Sorry in advance if this seems like a silly question, but I’m just not sure.
I am in the process of conversion (in RCIA right now) and have my oldest son in PSR. (My ex-husband, father of my youngest, will not allow me to enroll him in the classes.) I have already been baptized, but my children have not. I have spoken to the priest, and we are planning to do this in February.
Is this something I should be inviting my younger son’s father and both kids’ grandparent to attend? Again, I apologize if that is a silly question. I was baptized Baptist, and in our church, it was a big deal kind of thing. If a person was getting baptized they did it directly after the service in front of the whole congregation, and parents/grandparents were invited to attend.
I really have no idea what to expect as far as how things go in the Catholic church. My kids aren’t really young (they are 12 and almost 9), so I have explained to them why this is important, etc. But I don’t know how to explain the process to them. (Do they dunk you under water, like the Baptists, or do it some other way?)
I intend to discuss this all with the priest as well, it has just been such a busy time for everyone that I haven’t been able to yet. Any answers that can be provided here in the meantime would be very welcome. Thanks!!
