Ever since I converted four years ago, I get hit with this lack of confidence in my decision. I start to doubt whether the consolations I receive are from God, and I even start to doubt Christianity. I then start to pray prayers like “God if I’m on the wrong path please have mercy on me”, but it feels like a sin to pray that. I am constantly tormented about the confirmation bias that made me downright avoid alternate points of view because I wanted Catholicism to be true, and I have not found a way to find conclusive peace. I start thinking I damned my Soul by not being objectively open to the Truth, and I don’t know how to be healed. I would like prayer for the courage to love and seek the truth, and the humility to not trust my own senses or sincerity, but to trust God.

Ouch! Once you enter into the gift of faith, faith needs to be increased and that comes from a healthful diet of prayer, meditation, mass, the sacraments, study, being with other faith filled Catholics and serving. Serving those in need. Speaking with a priest would really help and that can happen with a simple appointment. Also learning to pray the rosary. Get to know Mary. She loves you. you know there were two thieves by Jesus and they were crucified too. Mary was right there with her suffering son, she heard those thieves speak to the son of God. One questioned Jesus…“Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us! But the other answered, and rebuking him said’ Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he was saying," Jesus , remember me when you come into your kingdom! And he said to him, " Truly I say to , today you shall be with me in paradise". Luke 23:39-43. May you rebuke the evil one when he tempts you to doubt and run to Mary who will help you and cover you with her mantle of care and counsel.

I pray the rosary frequently and my relationship with Mary kept me from leaving the church. I just get really turned around when I think about my past. Thabk you for your words, though!

Hail Mary,

Full of Grace,

The Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou amongst women,

and blessed is the fruit

of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Mother of God,

pray for us sinners now,

and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

I am no priest, no spiritual director or theologian, but I do know from experience, that the evil one delights (if this spirit can delight in anything) in bringing up the past. Past thoughts, past sins (that have already been forgiven) anything past to bring you down, to bring you to center on self and to take your peace away. Delight in God because he delights in you. He called you to be a Catholic and has great plans for you, because why else is the evil one trying to get you to leave ? He is not happy you chose the narrow path to life. :walking_man:🙏

I pray to the Blessed Mother when I can’t figure out how to pray for myself.

Meditate on this passage. Tell the Blessed Mother your needs. She will
present them to Jesus. The lesson of this miracle is to do whatever
he tells you to believe in Him.

I pray you do
The Wedding at Cana.

1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee,
and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus and his disciples
were also invited to the wedding.

3 When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him, “
They have no wine.” 4 [And] Jesus said to her, “Woman, how does
your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come.”

5 His mother said to the servers, “Do whatever he tells you.”

6 Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial
washings, each holding twenty to thirty gallons. 7 Jesus told them,
“Fill the jars with water.” So they filled them to the brim. 8 Then he
told them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter.” So
they took it.

9 And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become
wine, without knowing where it came from (although the servers who
had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom
10 and said to him, “Everyone serves good wine first, and then
when people have drunk freely, an inferior one; but you have kept
the good wine until now.”

11 Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs in Cana in Galilee
and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
