Having trouble trusting God

You know, the biggest mistake I make (and have made) throughout my life is to equate God with my genetic father. He was abusive, cruel and abandoning. Having lived with him through my formative years, I was convinced that God was just like my faher.

Well, I’ve come to realize that He’s not!

I can’t count how many times He’s literally saved my life!

So, how can I not put my trust in a God Who loves me that much?

I am also in the same place the OP is and it is very difficult.

I seem to be stuck in this mental loop of imagining the worst case scenarios.

Maybe , @Sarcelle , for some of us it’s part of being damaged human beings .
