We are getting ready to relocate to Frederick, MD and need to find a **conservative **Catholic Church. Anyone from there?

The closet church with the Traditional Latin Mass I could find is Our Lady Queen of Poland and St. Maximillian Kolbe, At 9700 Rosensteel Ave. in Silver Spring. It’s a 45 minute drive. Here’s the contact info:

Fr. Vincent Ridgton

The Mass is held at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. There’s another one in Baltimore, but it’s farther. I’m not sure of any traditional-style OFs nearby, or simply conservative parishes, though. You might want to post on the liturgy and sacraments board for that.

You may wish to visit the archdiocese website at archbalt.org.

There are 12 Catholic parishes in Frederick County.
archbalt.org/parishes/find-parish/map/frederick.cfm

I hope you find one that is a good fit for you.

Since you will be living close, be sure to visit the Basilica in Baltimore. I recommend that you attend the 10:30 Sunday mass then take the tour afterward.

They also have a 9:00 Latin that has been on my “to do” list but hasn’t happened.

Are you near DC?

St. Mary Mother of God (near the Verizon Center) has a TLM every Sunday.

God Bless

Are you sure that they have a Traditional Latin Mass? I went on their website (which is all in Polish. I had to go to google translator to read it.)and it didn’t mention anything about a Traditional Latin Mass? But I would like to check this church out too since I live somewhat close and because I’m half Polish. I’ll have to go to one of their regular masses to see what they are like. But I would love to go there if they have a Traditional Latin Mass. Where did you find this out at?

BTW, the website translated to English for this church is:

translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tux.org%2Fparafia%2F&sl=pl&tl=en

And also, when I went to a website that lists churches that celebrate traditional Latin Masses, this church wasn’t listed. The website that lists churches that have Traditional Latin Masses in the US is:
ecclesiadei.org/masses.cfm#

This website lists Traditional Latin Masses internationally:
fssp.org/en/coordonnees.htm

This website lists Traditional Latin Masses in UK:
latin-mass-society.org/masses.htm

Look on www.masstimes.org. I’m not sure how traditional traditional you want, but St. Ursula’s Church in NE Baltimore (Parkville - Harford Road and Putty Hill Ave. - we have Sanctus Bells (or rather, a bell), too! 😃 And one of our priests does First Friday Adoration prayers in Latin. Hymns are in Latin, too) seems up there in the conservative scale (the kneelers are in the garage, waiting for the day that 4 more people decide they want Latin Mass. 🤷 ). There’s also the Basilica of the Assumption, St. Alphonsus Church across the street from the Basilica (has Latin Mass!!!) - both near Downtown Baltimore, and the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen (northern Baltimore, near Charles Street). There’s also the Immaculate Heart of Mary (has a Perpetual Adoration Chapel) near Towson (Loch Raven Blvd.).

You are out of luck in Frederick. I have a friend who lives up there, and his description of the parishes there are not heartwarming.

Other people have mentioned TLM’s near DC, which is going to be at least a 45 minute drive for you. In Gaithersburg (about 20-25 minutes away), there is St. John Neumann, which is an orthodox parish. It does not offer a TLM, but its 8am Sunday Mass does have the responses in Latin, and the music is very traditional at that Mass.

Thank you everyone for your information!! I’m not even wanting to find something as much as a Traditional Latin Mass, at this point I would just like a parish that doesn’t change the word “man” to “humankind” during the Mass.

Also, am I expecting too much that applause doesn’t occur after the choir sings an extra song during Mass?

Good luck…

If you are looking for a Catholic church where you can kneel for Holy Communion then you would like St. Alphonsus in Baltimore, MD.

St. Alphonsus never removed the altar rail and has always kept the practice of distributing Holy Communion from the hands of a Priest and/or Deacon with the aid of an altar BOY with parishioners kneeling at the altar rail.

It is located at Park and Saratoga Sts. (just two blocks away from the Basilica of the Assumption).

Every Sunday at 11:30 a.m. there is a Tridentine Latin Mass.

This church was established in the 1700s and St. John Neumann was a pastor.

They have daily adoration, novenas and public recitation of the Rosary; First Friday and First Saturday devotions; and, daily Confessions.:signofcross:

No clapping for the choir either.;):amen:

Other than an occasional visit, it’s not practical to suggest churches in downtown Baltimore. A typical commute from Frederick to downtown Baltimore runs about 1 hour on a Sunday morning.

He should begin visiting the churches close to home and pray that one fits his needs.

the closest traditional masses to frederick in my book are in the baltmore area. 1. st.hilary…tel. # (410) 795-4317
2. st. alphonsus (410) 685-6090
