I donāt know if this is the normal protocol as the only house blessings Iāve ever witnessed were for Filipino homes. The priests were usually Filipino as well and they didnāt āchargeā anything to do it.
The family who owns the home (at least in my circle) will invite all of their friends and relatives over. The priest will arrive. He will go into each room of the house and say a blessing usually in Tagalog and the family and other people who accompany the priest will also do the āOur Fatherā and the āHail Maryā. When he is done blessing each room, there will be a short mass in which a table is set up with a special cloth covering it to be the altar. Hymns will be sung during the mass. Everyone who are able, will receive the Eucharist. After the mass, there will be dinner and everyone will be sitting all around the downstairs of the house and outside eating and eating. The priest will stay as well and join in the celebration.
Iāve always thought it was a wonderful way to start your life in a new home. When my husband and I can finally afford to buy a house, Iād like to do the same thing.

As having done a couple of house blessings myself, I can answer this easily. No, there is no charge. Usually the family will offer a little hospitalilty and if they make an offering to the church, it is always a free will donation. God bless you.
