I was raised catholic, then stopped going to church for awhile during my late teens and twenties. The man I choose to marry was Lutheran. When we decided what church to be married in, I was really indifferent, and didn’t think it mattered that much. It did matter to him, so we were married Lutheran.
I started going to church a few months back, because I’ve been feeling very drawn to God, and wanting to know him better. I also started feeling drawn back to the catholic church. I went to talk to a priest about some things, and he informed me that choosing to be married in a Lutheran church excommunicated me from the catholic church. If I would have known this then, I really think I would have made it a point to be married catholic. He says that all we have to do is have our marraige blessed in the catholic church and I will be able to receive communion again.
Is it possible to have our marraige blessed in the catholic church when my husband does not agree with it’s teachings and has no desire to belong or raise our children catholic? It is very important to me to be able to receive communion. What can I do?
