I have seen it quoted numerous times here on CAF and have utilized it many times myself.

The great and venerable Haydock Bible, which has been available in all its glory online for years at http://haydock1859.tripod.com is GONE!!

Here is the only thing which shows up now:

"410 - WEBSITE NO LONGER EXISTS

The Page You’ve Requested Is From A Site That Has Been Permanently Removed.
Please Remove All References To This Page."

WHAT HAPPENED?!

Now here: Haydock's Catholic Bible Commentary, 1859 edition.

Its good, but there are no shortage of other good commentaries available…a better picture comes from looking at the writings of not only a variety of theologians but the writings of Church Fathers, Doctors of the Church, the CCC, and Church documents

THANK YOU, how did I forget the Wayback Machine.

Guess I do need to buy a copy of Haydock just in case. It is such a valuable resource.

Honestly, I have not found a better Catholic commentary than Haydock, other commentaries pale in comparison.

I agree.

The Haydock Bible is unique among Catholic Bibles, it is a literal treasure trove.

No doubt, it is excellent…my point is limiting it as a sole source of commentary is like limiting yourself to the use of one translation of sacred scripture.

Who said anything about limiting yourself to the Haydock as a sole source of commentary?

Nobody…take a strain…why does every comment have to be a challenge for an argument?

That site going down also took the Confraternity New Testament parallel with the New Testament commentary. Sucks it’ll be relegated to the Wayback Machine.

I took the old website down mostly because I could no longer afford to pay Tripod their monthly fee to host the website. As other posters have said, the material is now readily available elsewhere on the Internet.

If you would like a copy of the old webpages (.html files) of the Haydock Bible and/or the Confraternity New Testament to store on your computer for your personal use, I would be happy to email a copy to you. Simply contact me at old website’s “Contact Us” email address: CatholicBook@aol.com.

The total size of the Haydock Bible files is nearly 42 MB and the Confraternity New Testament files nearly 9 MB.

No. The old Tripod website and many of its associated files have already been permanently deleted. Those who used it will have to look for the material elsewhere on online.

I’ll one up you Joshua.

It’s the nature of online social media communications.
