He who endures to the end will be saved!

An unbelieving heart is a heart that does not obey God’s commandments. If you believe God, then you obey Him. This is a command. It is not a suggestion. Romans 1:5, Romans 16:26, 2 Corinthians 10:5]

An unbelieving heart is one who has been enlightened of the goodness of God through the giving of His Son, Jesus Christ, for the ransom of their sin, and have walked away from it. Believers do still sin and remain on the vine.

Romans 6:16
Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?

Do you not know this? The wages of sin is death. Have you not just seen the effects of sin when you died through baptism and was married to another, Jesus Christ? So walk in the newness of life.

Hope of eternal life is not a guarantee of eternal life.**

The object of our hope is not in eternal life, but in Christ Jesus.

The Holy Spirit is our only guarantee of eternal life. 2 Corinthians 5:5 Through Baptism, He sanctifies our souls/temples by His presence. He is now our guarantee that we will enter eternal life when we die.

If we sin mortal sins after Baptism, then we insult this Spirit of Grace, and so He no longer abides in us giving us saving (sanctifying) grace Hebrews 10:26-30. He cannot abide in a temple/soul defiled by mortal sin. 1 Corinthians 3:17 If we have committed mortal sins and have not repented of them, then we know that He is no longer living in us. If we die in this state, then we are destroyed. We are not saved and we do not enter into eternal life.

If we sin and and haven’t repented, He will chase us down fiercely and destroy us if required to finally remove our old man once and for all. He does this act out of His love and for our own advantage. His love for us does not change for we are His sons. At some point of time, all of us will suffer the same consequence for our sin, death.

1 John 3:24
Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

We know that He abides in us because we are keeping His commandments. When we keep His commandments, then we know that He is abiding in us.

And this is the commandment John was writing about in the prior verse. Did you not read it?

This is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment

1 John 2:4
He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

The key to this verse is understanding the following. If someone tells you that they believe in Christ, but there isn’t any regeneration or witness to that effect, then they are liars and the truth is not in them. Everyone who has the Son has truth and Christ came into the beliver to take away sin and He hates sin. So if you do not have hatred for sin and sin isn’t being removed in your life then you better be questioning if you really have the truth in you.

…whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him

What happens to all liars?

Revelation 21:8
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

Our robes have been washed white by the blood of the lamb. We were not one of these above any longer.

When I read your comments above, maybe it’s me, but I sense all the emphasis placed in the water rather than the One who truely sprinkles the soul with His blood. Not only was Adam’s sin atoned for, but all of our sin and in your case all of your venial and mortal that you will ever commit in this life. And I sense from your writing that Jesus Christ and His sacrifice is not the source of your hope to endure. But your endurance is based upon the false hope that one day you may be found worthy enough through your deeds to tip the balancing scale in your favor to inherit the promise.

Jesus Christ, Him alone, and what He has accomplished on God’s alter is the source of all your hope. If you are unwilling to come to Him with a broken and contrite heart, and thrust yourself completely at his feet, wipe His feet with your hair, and annoint Him with costly perfume, then you will have no part with Him.

The water can have absolutely no effect on the soul without the merits of His shed Blood. Jesus chose to not literally sprinkle His Blood on us in order for us to be sanctified so instead He uses water to apply these merits to our souls. The merits are in the Blood. The water is the instrument/means used to apply them to the soul.

Jesus’ sacrifice atoned for Adam’s Sin which we all inherited from Him. This inheritance is alienation from God’s fellowship in eternal life. Baptism remits this sin and makes it now possible for us to inherit eternal life.

Jesus’ sacrifice also atoned for the debt to His Father of all the sins of the world so that no more animal blood sacrifices would have to be continually offered for the forgiveness of our personal sins. He died once and for all, a perfect sacrifice.

We still have to atone for our own personal sins if we desire to enter into eternal life. We must be found faithful (worthy) at the time of our deaths in order to inherit eternal life.

1 Corinthians 4:2
Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.

Revelation 3:4
You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy.

Matthew 10:38
And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

We must be approved first before we may receive the crown of eternal life.

How does Christ judge who loves Him?

1 John 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

We do not love Jesus unless we keep His commandments. If we do not keep His commandments, then we do not love Him and so we will not be approved by Him to inherit the crown of eternal life when we die.

Baptism in the New Covenant replaces circumcision in the Old Covenant. Baptism in the New Covenant is what justifies us just like circumcision justified the Jews in the Old Covenant.

If you fall away from the faith after baptism, then you are no longer saved. In order to actually believe in Someone, you also have to do what He tells you to do. Jesus tells us to obey His commandments if we desire to enter into eternal life.

Matthew 19:16-19
Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”
17 So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.[c] But** if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments**.”
18 He said to Him, “Which ones?”
Jesus said, “ ‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ 19 ‘Honor your father and your mother,’[d] and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”

It is best to do as He commands. It does not get any plainer than this.

First, we become attached as a branches to the Vine/Christ through Baptism. We are now saved. We (branches) remain attached to the Vine (abide in the Vine) if we continue to obey Him. If we disobey His commandments, then He cuts us off the Vine and so we then are no longer attached to the Vine. We are no longer saved. Those not found attached to the Vine at their deaths will be thrown into hellfire and burned.

How can we test ourselves to see if we are abiding/remaining/continuing in Him?

1 John 3:24

If we are keeping His commandments, then we know that we are abiding/remaining/continuing in Him.

If after committing adultery or any sin such as this 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, a person believes a spirit who tells him that he is still abiding in the Vine (Christ) after this mortal sin, then he is listening to the spirit of this world, Satan, who has now taken up residence in his soul Luke 11:24-26. The sin of adultery defiles the temple/soul of a person and the Holy Spirit does not ever reside/abide in a temple/soul defiled by mortal sin. 1 Corinthians 3:16-18. He destroys it with vengeance. Hebrews 10:26-30

according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,

Your baptism as a babe was when you were justified, that is how it was done in the New Covenant, In the name of The Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. No getting around it with semantics Rock, and your Baptism is an indelible mark forever in your soul. Having it done over and over does not do a thing to erase what the Trinity did for you that first time. Deny it, but it will not change it.Carlan

The son who actually obeyed in the end was the one who did His Father’s Will.

We must obedient until death.

I have chased your scripture verses around before and after putting them in context I have wondered how you often inserted “obedience to God’s commandments” or someother topic into some of these when the author was speaking entirely about another issue. I would suggest that instead of doing word searches in scripture and then coping and pasting the outcome into your post, that you spend some time reading the chapters beforehand and after and more so pray to understand them in context.

Most of these you have inserted your own meaning into them and I have caught you doing so several time before. So for the sake of argument when you post please be sure you are not leaning on your own understanding.

as being something which is not possible… if one has had an actual experience of the rebirth, not too certain that you hold water Baptism as being necessary, and that you are born of the spirit… by “receiving the Holy Ghost” then one can not ever quit believing.

The Catholic church teaches the possibility of one being able to lose their faith, thus
losing their salvation… from the platform that one always has access and full use of his free will.If one loses their free will, than there isn’t anything we can do for or against our faith.

Goodness these ideas and views of yours has been presented for five hundred years and not accepted… this is not something new to the Catholic church… which not only has the same scriptures but has preserved them from the beginning of Christianity. Anyone can take a few scritpures out and present arguments for the opposite sides of over three hundred bible issues…

Should I take up the sword or not take up the sword… seems I can pull out either of those scriptures and make two opposite point as to either of them as being the actual
word of Jesus… and should be believed on that bases only.

there are too many bible references which have that same foundation surrounding them, I think that one might just need to have some kind of Chruch which teaches God’s truth

What gospel is that? Sounds more like the "not so good “good news”". I would hate to think my Savior would ever forsake me; i didn’t deserve to be in His presence when He rescued me from sin and He knows when He rescued me I would still sin, albeit much less, but He knew what He bought and paid for with His life, so if He can save me in His death how much more can He keep me in His life?

The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Some persons pluck three or four verses out of Scripture and claim that these explain the good news:

Jn 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Rom 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Jn 19:30
So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

Acts 16:31
So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

So, they think that when Jesus stated, “It is finished,” that He meant that He paid the price for every believer’s personal sins from their births to their deaths and that their own personal free will actions do not determine whether they inherit eternal life or not.

However, that is not what “It is finished” means.

Jesus came to earth to atone for Adam’s Original (first) Sin so that we may live with God in heaven for eternity. Only He, who is both God and Man, could reconcile man to God because no righteous works of any human person could atone for this one sin that Adam committed. We all inherit this one sin from Adam on our souls when we are conceived and so we are born sinful and so none of us could atone for this sin. This is why Jesus alone is the One Mediator. He restored for us by His own obedience to God that which Adam lost for us by his disobedience to God.

This is why Jesus came to earth. He came to redeem mankind (all men) 1 Tim 2:3-7 from Adam’s sin. He redeemed mankind when He made a perfect offering of Himself to His Father. This paid the price for Adam’s Sin and so mankind is now reconciled to God. Because mankind has been reconciled to God, the individual man now has hope of eternal life.

However, He reconciles each of us personally to God through Baptism, which is what applies the atonement/merits of His sacrifice to each of us (our souls) personally. Baptism cleanses Adam’s Sin off of our souls and this is done through the washing of water by the word. Eph 5:26 Baptism gives the individual man/person hope of eternal life.

God did not abandon His creation after Adam sinned. He forgave them over and over. He freed them from their slavery in Egypt. How did they show their gratitude for His great mercy? While He was giving Moses the Ten Commandments, they were building a golden calf idol in order to worship it instead of Him.

Because they worshiped the golden calf instead of Him, He decided to punish them in a very severe manner because He is a jealous God. So, He made the Law and commanded them to obey it. This Law demanded adherence to many, many rules and regulations for worship, eating, living, atoning for personal sins, etc. These were called the “Law of commandments contained in ordinances” Eph 2:15 and since Moses was chosen to administer this new Law to the Israelites, it became known as the Law of Moses. (The Law of Moses is not the same Law of Commandments as the Ten Commandments.)

This “Law of commandments contained in ordinances” was impossible for people to keep perfectly, so they heaped personal sin upon personal sin upon their souls because they continually transgressed these commandments in this Law of Moses. **They had to offer animal sacrifices continually to God in order to atone for their personal sins against Him. However, no works of this Law (of Moses) could ever atone for Adam’s Sin.

But, God sent them prophets and psalms to encourage them.** Through these prophets and psalms, He promised them a Savior, His own Son. This Savior would fulfill/finish the Law of Moses by His own death on the cross, thereby making the Law of Moses obsolete. He then would make a New Covenant with His Father with Himself as testator/guarantee.

Jesus states why He came to earth:

Luke 24:44
Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”

This is why He stated on the cross, “It is finished.” He finished the Law of Moses, the Old Covenant. He fulfilled/finished all that was written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Him. Since He fulfilled/finished everything; the Old Covenant is now obsolete. His New Covenant now remains in force forever because He will never break His covenant with His Father.

He fulfilled/finished all of the Law of Moses perfectly. Only He could and did offer a perfect sacrifice to His Father in atonement for Adam’s Sin which caused the fall of mankind. Since He offered a perfect sacrifice with His own Blood, now the animal sacrifices could cease. Men no longer would have to atone for their own personal sins with animal sacrifices. Now, each time they repented, Jesus would offer the merits of His own Blood sacrifice to His Father in atonement for their personal sins.

Here is the Good News:

We no longer have to offer animal sacrifices to God in atonement for our own personal sins because we are no longer bound by the Law of Moses. We are now only bound by the Royal Law which is:

Luke 10:25-28
And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?”
27 So he answered and said, “** ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’”**
28 And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” James 2:8

Matthew 19:16-19
Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, “**Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” **
17"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.”
18"Which ones?" the man inquired.
Jesus replied, " ‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, 19honor your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’

John 15:10
If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

This is the truth of Jesus’ gospel: We must obey His commandments if we desire to enter into eternal life.

What if we sin after we are baptized/justified?

1 John 2:1-3
My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. 3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought/must himself also to walk just as He walked. Hebrews 5:9

If we repent of our sins, then Jesus will forgive us. He will apply the merits of His own perpetual (once and for all) Blood sacrifice to His Father in atonement for our own personal sins each time we repent of them.

However, we have to atone for them also. He atones for the blood sacrifice part. We must do works worthy of repentance in order to atone completely for our own personal part. Matthew 3:8

If not on earth, then in prison/purgatory because the last mite must be paid. All stain of sin must be purged from our souls before we are declared worthy and approved to inherit eternal life. Luke 12:58-59, 1 Corinthians 3:12-15, James 1:12

We must be perfected (made perfect) before we can enter heaven. Hebrews 12:22-24

You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
