He who endures to the end will be saved!

Absolutey not! He is telling the Jew that if they willfully turn away from the Gospel (sin willfully), the only hope of salvation, then there can’t be any sacrifice left for them. Because the old covenant has been replaced with the new: Hebrews 8:13 “In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away”

The whole New Testament is the Gospel of our Lord. We cannot pick and choose only the parts of the New Testament/Gospel that we want to obey. We must obey the whole New Testament/Gospel in order to be approved to enter eternal life James 1:12. To love Christ is to obey Him John 14:21. He only saves the persons who love Him/obey Him Hebrews 5:9.

All Christians 2 Timothy 2:19 who say that they “know” Him, but who do not also obey His commandments are “liars” and they will not inherit eternal life 1 John 2:4. All of these “liars” who claim to be “Christians” will be thrown into hell when they die Revelation 21:8.

“Turn away from the gospel” means that a person chooses to not obey “everything” that the gospel “commands.” It is not limited to the Jews who still want to keep the Old Covenant. It means that every person who does not obey God’s commandments in the Gospel in their entirety is turning away from the gospel. The Gospel is God’s commands.

1 Corinthians 14:37
If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.

Galatians 1:6-9
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

If you do these things (break these commandments of the Lord), then you will not inherit eternal life:

Ezekiel 33:12-18
“Therefore you, O son of man, say to the children of your people: ‘The righteousness of the righteous man shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression (mortal sin); as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall because of it in the day that he turns from his wickedness; nor shall the righteous be able to live (gain eternal life) because of his righteousness in the day that he sins.’ 13 When I say to the righteous that he shall surely live, but he trusts in his own righteousness and commits iniquity (mortal sin), none of his righteous works shall be remembered; but because of the iniquity (mortal sin) that he has committed, he shall die (lose eternal life). 14 Again, when I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ if he turns from his sin and does what is lawful and right, 15 if the wicked restores the pledge, gives back what he has stolen, and walks in the statutes of life without committing iniquity (mortal sin), he shall surely live; he shall not die. 16 None of his sins which he has committed shall be remembered against him; he has done what is lawful and right; he shall surely live.

When we sin mortal sins, we lose eternal life.

Ephesians 5:1-7
Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

We are only righteous when we obey God’s commandments. If we return to sin after we are saved, then we are no longer righteous and we are then called sons of disobedience instead of sons of God. Galatians 3:26

Colossians 3:5-7
Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.

If a person returns to a life of mortal sin after he has been saved, then he becomes a son of disobedience and he will no longer be eligible to inherit eternal life unless he repents of his mortal sin before he dies.

The person who has true faith in God obeys Him. A person does not have faith in God unless he also obeys Him.

Paul identifies these unredeemed sinners so he can compare them with the next verse where he adds: “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”

Even a dog cares for his young! How could one be a child of God!

What about a brother or sister or parent who is destitute because he or she has spent his or her money unwisely? Yes, you have to help him or her anyway if you possibly can even if you have to give up some things that you want, but do not need. (But, I would not give them cash. I would give them food and help pay their rent instead.)

And what does the one who murdered get?

21"You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Jesus putting the purity and the righteousness of the law back in place from where it had been watered down by custom so the Jew could follow it and not sin. The commandment is to identify us as sinners and need of the one who came to fullfill the law perfectly, Jesus Christ…

The murderer gets death as his judgment Numbers 35:30, Numbers 35:18 in the Old Covenant.

Jesus actually makes His new law harder.

The Old Law merely said, “Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.”

However, Jesus’ New Law says, "But, I tell you that anyone who is angry will be subject to the judgment.

In other words, even “anger” will be judged by God in the New Covenant whereas only murder was judged in the Old Covenant.

In Hebrews 10 the author clearly used “willfully sin” for Jews who were returning to the old system. There isn’t any forgiveness in the old system so their sin remains. I don’t have any problem with your definition, it’s just your repeated misapplied usage of Hebrews 10 to attach the “wilfully sin” to people who are overtaken in sin.

Paul had wrote many things to the Corinthians, but in this phrase he was refering to his instructions as commandments from the Lord for the keeping of order in the church.

Paul makes a very clear distinction six verses earlier that the unrighteous are those unbelievers outside the church: Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?

And then again he makes a distinction between the unrighteous: fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, extortioners and the Saints when he follows it with “And such were some of you”

Sons of disobedience are those who practice sin without any will for righteousness. Christians seek after righteousness, that is why Jesus said: *Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. *

Ezekiel 33:12-18
“17 “Yet the children of your people say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ But it is their way which is not fair! 18 When the righteous turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, he shall die because of it.

Judgment

We will all be judged by the standard of the Royal Law, the Law of Love, on Judgment Day James 2:2-9.

Royal Law:

Lk 10:25-28
And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?”
27 So he answered and said, “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself. ”28 And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live (inherit eternal life).”

Everything that we do “in the body” while we are alive on earth is judged according to the Royal Law on Judgment Day 2 Cor 5:10, Acts 10:42, Rom 2:16.

Even our thoughts and idle words (unimportant conversations) will be judged Mat 12:36-37, James 5:9, 1 Tim 5:11-13, Heb 4:12, Mk 7:20-23.

When we sin (deny Christ by our works/deeds/fruits) Titus 1:16, Rom 1:28-32, then we bring judgment upon ourselves Jn 12:48.

We will reap in eternity what we have sown on earth.

Gal 6:7-8
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
8For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

There are different degrees of righteous/good works/deed/fruits and so there are different degrees of rewards 2 Cor 9:1-6.

There are different degrees of sins (bad works/bad deeds/bad fruits) and so there are different degrees of punishment.

Jesus used the following example to show how He will judge us all:

Mat 5:21-26
"You have heard that it was said to the men of old, You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment.' 22 But I say to you that every one who is **angry** with his brother shall be liable to **judgment**; whoever **insults** his brother shall be liable to the **council**, and whoever says, You fool!’ shall be liable to the hell of fire.
23 So if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,
24 leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
25 Make friends quickly with your accuser, while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison;**
26 truly, I say to you, you will never get out till you have paid the last penny**.

The lowest “degree” of seriousness for the sin of “anger” is when we feel “inner irritation” (unkind thoughts) about a person because he has annoyed us. This is a venial sin. It can be atoned for by prayers, alms, or fasting, etc. Acts 10:1-6, Joel 2:12

After we repent of these venial sins and confess them, then we must still do works worthy of repentance in order to completely atone for them and also to show/prove that we have turned away from sin and turned once again to God Mat 3:8.

The second “degree” of seriousness for the sin of “anger” is when we verbally insult the person who angered us. This subjects us to the council of judgment/Sanhedrin and this is also a venial sin, but a more serious venial sin than the previous example. According to Jesus’ example, this results in the punishment or sentence of prison/purgatory where we will have to stay until we have atoned fully (paid in full) for our wrongdoing. We will still inherit eternal life, but not until we have fully atoned for this sin in purgatory/prison Luke 12:58-59, 1 Pet 3:18-20.

The third or highest “degree” of seriousness for the sin of “anger” is when we show contempt/hatred verbally or physically towards the person who angered us. This sin results in hellfire/condemnation and so we will not inherit eternal life.

Of course, if we repent and confess this deadly (mortal) sin before death Romans 6:16, then Jesus will forgive us through the action of His priest Jn 20:20-23 and we will once again be justified 1 Jn 2:1-4 and we will again be eligible to inherit eternal life.

We must endure to the end of our lives 2 Peter 1:5-10, Matthew 24:10-13, Galatians 6:8-10 in obedience to His Father’s commandments in order to be approved by Jesus to inherit eternal life when we die, and this is the Gospel of Christ. James 1:12, Revelation 22:14, Revelation 3:4-5

Few people will actually be saved (inherit eternal life) compared to the multitudes who will not be saved.

Many of the condemned/damned on Judgment Day will actually be born again/baptized Christians. Instead of choosing to obey God’s commandments and to produce good fruits as commanded by Christ’s gospel, these Christians chose instead to disobey, erroneously believing that they would always remain saved no matter what they did. When they are judged, they will be shocked to find out that they believed a lie, but it will be too late. 1 Corinthians 14:37, Luke 13:22-28, Matthew 7:20-24, 2 Thessalonians 1:8.

God helps us to persevere in the faith until our deaths if we obey Him 1 Corinthians 10:12-13, James 4:7.

We must each “work out our own salvation with fear and trembling” Philippians 2:12-13. Satan is always on the prowl, trying to get us to sin mortal sin so that he can then torment us forever in hell 1 Peter 5:6-9.

God the Father will, without partiality, judge each person according to his/her own work and so each person must continually conduct himself throughout his lifetime in fear and obedience to Him. 1 Peter:13-19, Hebrews 10:26-31

Salvation is not a one-time event; it is a life-long process.

This sexually immoral Christian brother is no longer saved. He has become an evil person, a son of disobedience.

His explanation showed them that it was harder to obey Him than they originally thought. They knew that murder was evil according to their understanding of the Law of Moses, but now they learn that anger will be judged also.

Paul is not pointing his finger at individuals but the false system of making one righteous imposed by the Judaizers spreading through the church; Falling from the doctrine of grace alone. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Mercy triumphs over judgment.

If a person commits the sin of murder, then he has transgressed the royal law of liberty/grace which states “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Since he is guilty of murder, then he has transgressed the whole law because it is but one law, and it is called the royal law, the law of liberty/grace. This person who murders will not inherit eternal life unless he repents before his death.

If a Christian person sins, then he transgresses the royal law/commandment. He commits lawlessness. He has sinned against the royal law of liberty/grace and so he will be judged by this royal law of liberty as a transgressor, (a law breaker who commits lawlessness).

1 John 3:4
Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

James is speaking of transgressing the law of liberty/grace, the royal law. He is not speaking of the Law of Moses at all.

I am a bit confused as to what your position is… but it “seems” to me that you are
saying that because somewhere you came across the “Good News” regarding
Jesus and you “intellectually” accepted that bit of history as God’s Truth and with
all of your senses you repented of your sins and you asked Jesus into your heart.

And now you feel that act alone means that all of your sins are now forgiven and
there will not any consquence of your daily sins from the time you repented and prayed
for God’s forgiveness until the day your die. You are “saved” and have what is sometimes
called “eternal Security” because of your Faith in Jesus…

That sounds pretty good… I wish I could accept that as it would sure make my christian life a bit easer for me, not counting the sense of rest and peace I would have in worrying about my sins.

But of course we have all those “other” scriptures which do NOT back that up…

But I think the main thought I would suggest for you to meditate on…

(and I might add that you do it, rather quickly… because, if you neglect your Salvation responsablities you might be in for a rather rude awaking… in Purgatory for a long long long long time.)

That thought would run along lines like this:

Now, when Adam and Eve were created and placed in the Garden Of Eden. They were
to live forever. After Eve sinned and then lead Adam into the same sin, they were put out of the garden of Eden to work by the sweat of their brow. but more imporatant they were
to now did… “And the wages of Sin is Death”

And people began to die from that time to right this instant.

Death was and is the consquence of Original sin… and if we are, as you believe now saved from the consquence of our sins…

Why are we still dieing?

Seems to me that we should now live forever as our souls would be pure as Adam and Eve’s were prior to their sin…

No, I think there is a bit more to the process that Jesus bought for us in order for us
to become from the view we are not there yet after we receive Faith from God.

My friends have gone through similair conversions and were never baptized as an infant. You can pour water on people all day long using the right words, but if that person isn’t circumsized in the heart by the Spirit it is meaningless. Even those circumsized in Israel were not all chosen.

You have those opinions because you are taking God out of being “the first cause”
of your salvation… you seem to fall under the main disagreement with the Catholic
Churches teaching using Luther, Calvin, Knox, etc’s argument that one discovers his
own salvation through his “reason” alone… And you are approaching the knowledge
of God through your reasoning… You are keeping from your reasoning the fact that
our salvation is not of ourselves and through our reasoning alone. but from God.

The act of Salvation is from God… not from within your mind alone…

God can work through people without them giving Him their permission…

I do not see my salvation through my reasoning, I see it from through my Faith.

God said it. I believe it. Period…

I do not have to go find some scriptures to know that God sent his salvation to me.

I go to the Authority of the Church… I have not only faith in God but Faith in the Church.

I am not blind nor an idiot but I know there is authenic theologians in the Church who have been exposed to the Truths of God far better than I am or could ever be. I accept their
doctrines as I feel they are teaching me God’s Truths.

Do you go study the medical students books to have a doctor doctor you?

Do you study basic and advanced electronics before you have an electrican fix your light switch… etc…

What kind of Ministers do you have that you have to check behind everything they teach you?

I really don’t understand all this fuss about knowing all these scriptures… I have been reading my bible for many years. I have studied it most of my life… but I have never once
read it to examine the Truths my church teaches… I read the bible to give me the Grace
of God which will allow me to live out my faith to those people in my life…

To fight the many temptations the evil ones put into my body each and every day…

To help me to open my abilities up to the power of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit
who all live with me, and who want to use me to show their kind of love…

I think if you have to read and examine your ministers to such a degree… you might
consider seeking a church which you can trust in with helping you get your soul
into Heaven…

Do you keep a log of your daily failures for the confessional or do you approach the confessional on some other basis? How does that work? Or do different people do it differently? I guess the better question is what is the standard set by your church?

The same as you use for your “witness”…

Ten commandments and the Beatiitudes…

We go to classes in order to learn what our Moral responsablities as a christian
are.

When we fall into a certain sin, such as not doing some good that we should have
done. “he who knows to do good and does it not, it is a sin onto him” James.

If we do something which God said for us to not do… (10 commandments).

We know when and where we sin… we go to the church and meditate in what
is called “self examination” and when we focus on what sins we have we then
get up and go into the confessional and ask the Priest in there to pray with
us to recieve our forgiveness, and for God’s Grace to not do those sins again.

We go to Mass once a week, we offer our sins up in repentant prayer seven times during the service and lay those sins at the foot of the cross which we believe comes in the form of the Eucharist near the end of our Mass. (service)

We can pray alone to God for his Grace to forgive and to strenghten us.

We can ask others to pray with us for our sins.

We are taught and believe that we are to work out our salvation with God with a very
serious attitude…

But then, I wouldn’t understand anyone who claims to have the spirit of God in them,
and not want to fight against their sins… I can not understand this deal where one
finds faith in God and then saids… well these sins are all covered by the death of
Jesus and so, since I can’t stop sinning totally, that leaves me not responsible for the sins which I can stop.

I know I can stop stop certain sins… as I have. I was an adult when I discoverd the Grace of God and I had a few bad habits which were serious sins in my life. I stopped doing those sins.

Today I know I am not where God wants me to be… but I am more than I used to be.

I want to say at the end of my life what St. Paul said at the end of his…

I fought the good fight… I kept the faith…

The Royal Law contains two commandments. They are:

"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

The Royal Law existed before the Law of Moses was implemented and it also exists now after the Law of Moses was made obsolete. It is an eternal law.

If a person truly believes in God, then he chooses to obey the Royal Law. If he does not obey it, then he has no real faith in God and he will not inherit eternal life. Persons who claim to know God (persons who claim to believe in Him), but who do not also obey Him (His commands) are liars and they will not inherit eternal life.

1 John 2:4 “He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”**

We will be judged on our “fruits” or “deeds” or “works” (whatever you’d like to call them). We will not be judged on our faith alone.

John 5:28-29 “Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.”

Jesus approves for eternal life only those people who have obeyed Him.

Hebrews 5:9 “And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,”

He does not save the people who claim to be Christians (name the name of Christ) if they do not also obey Him.

2 Timothy 2:19 "Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

The Lord only “knows” the people whose souls He abides in. He only abides in the souls of people who actually obey Him.

Luke 13:24-28 “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25 When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’ 26 then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’ 27 But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’ 28 There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out."

This is not “rocket” science. It is common sense. Those people who choose to sin mortal sins after they become Christians will not inherit eternal life.

Many people are actually led astray by misinterpretations of the Scriptures. This is why many people in this day and age believe in “eternal security.” They have been mislead by misinterpretation. Jesus’ true Church (the one Church that Hades cannot prevail against Matthew 16:18) has always taught that “faith plus works” (James 2:24) which is also known as “faith working through love” (Galatians 5:6) is necessary in order to inherit eternal life. Faith alone without good works is not sufficient in order for people to be approved to inherit eternal life. Good works are necessary in order to be approved to inherit eternal life. (Revelation 3:4, Revelation 22:14) Obedience to God’s commands is a good work. Helping your neighbors is also a good work.

It is impossible to actually believe in God or to love God if you do not also obey His commandments. (1 John 2:4) The fallen angels (demons) believe that there is a God, but they will still spend eternity in hell. The reason that they were condemned is because they did not obey God even though they did believe that He existed. (James 2:18-24) Dead faith (faith without good works) does not entitle a person to inherit eternal life. Instead, dead faith condemns a person to hell. People who do not obey God will be condemned to hell just like the demons were.

“Belief alone” in God without obedience to His commandments is not enough in order to be approved to inherit eternal life. There is no real love of God without obedience to His commandments. (John 14:21) If people do not keep (obey) His commandments, then they do not actually love God and so they will not inherit eternal life. God only saves (approves to inherit eternal life) the people who obey (love) Him. ([Hebrews 5:9, James 1:12](http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews+5:9&version=NKJV)) There is no love of or for God unless there is also obedience to Him. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deceiving himself. (James 1:22)

2 Peter 3:16 (Paul) “as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.”

People must be “taught” the correct interpretation of Scriptures. (Acts 8:30-35)
