Men show it by the act of uncovering.

So it’s asymmetric.

It makes sense though, I guess - women are usually more proud of (not in a negative way) their hair, whereas men, especially older men, are generally not so much, and maybe more likely to prefer wearing a hat, especially if they’re balding! So for a woman, covering her hair is humbling, and for a man uncovering his head is humbling. Just my thoughts but it could be an element of the reasoning.
