Head coverings and silence

It is absolutely possible for a child to kneel in church with hands folded and remain silent and reverent, if they are taught to do so.

This is so true!! At our current parish we see this all the time. Children are taught this, and this is how they behave.

As a matter of fact - I was thinking about it this Sunday during Mass that I never ever see a single Cheerio, toy, or coloring book at our parish. Unless it’s happening where I don’t see it, I have never witnessed this myself in close to a year being there.

**WanderAimlessly **- you go to Grotto too, have you ever seen this? I sit in the third pew from the front, so perhaps that’s why. But it is an extremely quiet parish, before and after Mass too.

I agree that reverent silence is missing in many Catholic parishes today.

How you believe that relates to headcoverings (or lack of them) on women confuses me. Bareheaded women aren’t the only ones talking in church.

I think that OP is probably connecting two missing habits from years ago - both of which are considered as reverent as genuflecting…TLM forum or no!

But allow me to echo your first line - Silence? I’m afraid that some churches sound like gymnasiums after Mass. People seem to think because Mass is over - that either the Blessed Sacrament has left the room, or they don’t have to honor Him or they just have forgotten where they are - and Who’s watching not just from above — but right up front - at the altar !
