I have to agree with this.In previous times, all women wore headcoverings in church. In synagogues, both men and women normally cover their heads as well.
It is a tradition that shows respect for being in a house of God. Why anyone would have a problem with that is beyond me.
Something you might be interested in along these linesā¦in ancient Jewish custom and practice, married women were supposed to keep their hair covered all the time. The only females who went about with uncovered hair were prostitutes.I have to agree with this.
Also, keep in mind that in Catholicism, Mary, the Theotokis, is always depicted with her head covered. And if that is so, then it seems like it would be heretical to say that head covering is evil.,
Are recently had a conversation with a family member who said that they absolutely do not agree with Catholic women who choose to cover their heads in church. I said, why not itās a just a tradition, itās not like itās enforced any more and it is just a form of piety. They in turn said that they are a chauvinistic way of men enforcing their will on women. Furthermore that Catholics women who choose to wear head coverings have merely been brainwashed into thinking this is normal, and that they are merely around to make babies and should walk ten feet behind their husbands. Iām not looking for Biblical or Traditional apologetics, just some practical apologetics for women who keep this practice. It may be of note I am male.![]()
My response would be that it is they who have been brainwashed by Modernism into thinking it is abnormal and evil.Furthermore that Catholics women who choose to wear head coverings have merely been brainwashed into thinking this is normalā¦
So itās OK for another woman to enforce her will on them, then? Are recently had a conversation with a family member who said that they absolutely do not agree with Catholic women who choose to cover their heads in church. So the National Organisation of women say that it is evil to wear headcoverings? Arenāt they the ones who are clamoring for women priests and for abortions on demand?Hereās an article that mentions how the National Organization of Women had in their handbook the agenda of getting Catholic women to discard headcoverings. They even burned veils in protest. Quite the eye-opener!
Why the Veil?
Did you notice that those instances were dated 1968 and 1971?Hereās an article that mentions how the National Organization of Women had in their handbook the agenda of getting Catholic women to discard headcoverings. They even burned veils in protest. Quite the eye-opener!
Why the Veil?
Of course I noticed. I thought it was worth mentioning that abandonment of the veil has roots in radical feminism.Did you notice that those instances were dated 1968 and 1971?
Watching what NOW is fighting for in 2008 is far more urgent. They are ardent supporters of abortion rights. OTOH, they are also ardent opponents of media images which make women into sexual objects. I wouldnāt join NOW, do not get me wrong, but they ought to be opposed or supported for positions they are holding now, not what they were doing 35 years ago.
They sound like heretics who should be excommunicated. So the National Organisation of women say that it is evil to wear headcoverings? Arenāt they the ones who are clamoring for women priests and for abortions on demand?
I can see your point. Since Islam has become more prevalent in the US, has NOW taken a stance on burqas? (What does make such people think this is any of their business?)Of course I noticed. I thought it was worth mentioning that abandonment of the veil has roots in radical feminism.
Back in the early 70ās, NOW wanted the tax exempt status revoked from Churches that preached against abortion. I think what they were doing then is still relevant to the fight we have against the evils of abortion and radical feminism today.
It isnāt a Catholic organization. They sound like heretics who should be excommunicated.
Thatās ok, I honestly didnāt know.Do forgive me; I couldnāt resist.![]()

As one who was the last female on the planet to give up hats, and who lived through the period, the abandonment of headgear was just a natural evolution of the general relaxation of the rules of dress.Of course I noticed. I thought it was worth mentioning that abandonment of the veil has roots in radical feminism.
