How would women feel if head coverings were made mandatory again?

After my experience today we need something! I’ll take head coverings and anything else that covers the body.
Today in church I saw a young man wearing a t-shirt with an obscene logo on his back! If I wrote what was said I would be suspended!!! I can say the t-shirt was an advertisement for Jacques Itch’s Pool House! You don’t want to know rest of the logo.

There was a young woman there too who needed to be escorted out!!! Her underwear ( thong ) was not covered.:bigyikes: Unfortunately she was a graduating senior who was upfront for recognition today. 😦

ENOUGH!

I am not certain, how I would feel. I would not be offended or refuse to wear a head dress. It might even be nice. I think that I will read through both sides of the arguements on this thread and then decide.

Head covering is fine with me, just means I could fiddle less with my hair int he morning and cover the blasted mess up.

Judging from the responsive of contemplative, head coverings are the least of our problems.

restoring head coverings won’t solve this problem, I think you need to ask for uniforms, or monk’s robes for all those attending church. maybe your parish should purchase choir or graduation-type robes in various sizes and have the ushers hand them out to everyone dressed inappropriately.

the problem you describe could be better addressed if your ushers were trained to do their job, and politely but quietly turn people away who are not dressed according to a previously announced and published dress code, posted prominently in the church.

I don’t expect it to happen anytime soon, but if it were mandated, I’d accept it.

I would accept a headcovering. A dress code should be enforced for everyone. I see too many men in church wearing sweatsuits that look like they either jogged in or mowed the lawn in. Most blue jeans look really bad in church. I have seen too many women with tube tops, short mini skirts or dresses…too much skin! What has happened to people attending Mass? It was never so bad.

Last week I went to Mass directly on the way home from a weekend of camping. It was the latest local Mass and I was responsible for bringing home 2 other families daughters after the event was over.

I could have gotten a dispensation and missed Mass altogether, or attended in the dirty jeans after camping. I chose to go to Mass, knowing God was aware of the circumstances.

It appears that people these days are wearing their blues to church more than anything else.

I have been caught that way too. Of course it is better to go to Mass.

I am not sure whether or not I would wear a head covering. I am only 20–the only benefit would be to cover a rather short-modern hair cut that I am currently growing out.

Because I am a college student, blue jeans are the least of dress code concerns. As long as my peers are not dressed for a night of hedonistic activity, I ignore it. White pants should be banned! (or at least buy some that are not transparent)

My husband and sons frequently do weekend sporting activities. They just take church clothes with them. They get to Mass a little early from their activity, change in the bathroom, wash their faces in the sink, and brush their hair before going in to Mass. We should never be too busy recreating to think about appropriate clothing for Mass. Dressing correctly affords the proper respect Our Lord deserves in His house. With so many parishes now offering Sunday evening Masses, such occurences of people showing up in their casual dress has become much more widespread and frequent. Though many may not mean to, taking an attitude of “at least I went to Mass” to rationalize the donning of casual wear only allows for others to degrade their dress for no good reason.

I started covering my head at my TLM parish. When I attend a NO service, I usually wear a hat. However, I’ve noticed women in a few NO churches that I’ve visited wearing veils, so I think the practice is more widespread than many think.

When I see a woman wearing the Mantilla I can’t help but see it as a beautiful expression of reverence. I would be quite willing to wear a head covering to Mass.

I would be very happy if women began covering their heads for mass. It changes the atmosphere of the mass, don’t you think?

There are no portraits of the BV Mary without veil until the mid-1900’s.Fatima was the role for the dignity of women. If she is no longer a model for women, what is she?
My wife loves a good veil.
If anyone knows who makes custom veils, I’d appreciate a post here.
I have some beautiful blue lace and want it bordered with a gold edge for a gift.

BTW:
There are even Baptist communities that require veils, not even hats.

Question:
Will there be clothes in heaven after the bodily resurrection? If so, and the apparitions of the BV Mary always has a veil, will women where veils there?

.

There Go I:

Growing up I "had " to wear a mantilla. We all thought it was cool. As I got older, the custom disappeared. I would love to see it back again. As far as a dress code, I am ashamed to admit, that I wear neat, clean jeans and a nice shirt or sweater and would have to go buy a “church outfit” Not that I am against it, just that I would have to “rob Peter to pay Paul” to get something.
