We will be going to Daytona Beach, FLorida. Is there a website I can go to, in order to find churches nearby/on the road? Any MUST see shrines in Florida/Georgia/Tennessee??
 
I don’t know of any shrines in East TN, but I would HIGHLY recommend you visit St. John Neumann Church in Knoxville, TN. It was recently built (and hasn’t even been officially dedicated yet). The pictures on the website don’t even begin to do it justice.

In Georgia, outside of Conyers, is a Trappist monastery , Holy Spirit. I have not been to this particular one, but one of my friends has and highly recommends I go if I ever get the chance.

The Shrine of the Most Holy Eucharist in Hanceville, Alabama!!! This is the one that Mother Angelica built - and unbelievably beauitiful place. Her order of cloistered nuns live there, and I was lucky enough to be able to meet three of them (through the grate) when I visited there last summer. At mass you can see them sitting behind a grate and they sing like angels. There are also brothers there, and young men can live there for a year and take care of the grounds while they discern their vocation. If they know you are coming, they will set up talks for you by the priests about the shrine, Mother Angelica, anything you want. I heard a powerful talk on confession while I was there. A pilgrimage to this shrine is amazing, and is even BETTER if you’ve read the book on Mother Angelica’s life, which describes how the Child Jesus led her to build this shrine - the book can be found here: amazon.com/Mother-Angelica-Remarkable-Network-Miracles/dp/0385510926. I highly recommend this book! 🙂

There are very affordable, adorable houses to stay in near the shrine. There are lodging links on the website. I can’t say enough about this place, it is truly a fountain of grace (in my opinion).

Visit St. Augustine on the way! It’s about an hour North of Daytona, right on the coast. Lovely little historic town and the Cathedral Basilica (first in the US) is a great representation of early Spanish architecture!
