Why would you want your husband to avoid using biofuel???

Okay… after doing a little googling 😃 I understand your question…
Here’s a good article on the subject…
catholicregister.org/content/view/1954/849/

Basically the development of biofuels has caused some countries to stockpile food… while there was a hunger crisis in the world (rice shortages, etc)… and for this reason the Vatican made some statement being against biofules at a time of global hunger.

Biofuels in and of themselves are morally neutral… and I think if hunger weren’t being affected they can be a very positive thing. So supporting biofuels isn’t bad… just as long as hunger isn’t the direct result of your support.

proving once again CAFers, collectively, know everything. I thought she was talking about some new age alternative health thing.

sorry guys - should have explained more! Bio energy is a method of healing using the ‘energy’ of the body to release ‘blocks’… it has been linked to reiki, whicj i know is bad news, because it uses ‘spirit guides’. i think the only connection between the two is a mention of energy healing. it’s difficult to find articles in ireland condemning bio energy healing, so if anyone has any experience of it or knows of some websites, i’d be grateful. thanks and God bless

wow puzzleannie… that was good!

I too thought she was talking about bio-fuels and I work in the bio-fuel industry…

I think I know what you mean by bio energy. My sister-in-law and brother-in-law just purchased a machine called Spectravision. She is a chiropractor and they are planning to open this as a business. My entire family has been scanned and now I am questioning whether or not it is something we should support. There seem to be many potential medical benefits, but it also raised questions for me.

It worked like this: They strapped an electrode to my wrist and the machine read energy or vibrations, (maybe electrical repsonse?) from my cells. Then it tells you what viruses you’ve been exposed to or would be especially harmful to you, what you’re allergic to, what toxins you may have in your body, etc. It recommends nutritional supplements and homeopathic remedies. Some of the more questionable areas for me were when it gave colors that were calming for me and a flower essence, which contained a description of myself that actually would only have been known by someone who knew me quite well. Others’ descriptions aren’t always that clear though.

I can’t determine if this is using real scientific means to determine these things and recommend the homeopathic remedies and vitamins, or if it’s something different. I think it could get into people recommending things like reiki, but I’m wondering if it can be used in a purely medical sense. I’m hoping to contact the Catholic Medical Association to see if they have heard of it yet (someone at Catholic Answers actually just recommended I do that). If anyone has any other thoughts, I’d appreciate hearing them as well.

Thank you!
Heather

This all sounds extremely unscientific. If there is no peer-reviewed scientific research proving the machine’s effectiveness ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medline ), then the ideas are based on pusedo-science.

And because much medical pseudo-science has its roots in non-Christian religions, as a Catholic, I would stay away.

I have heard of this, it is a scam. However, actual Bio-feedback (if you find a good doctor/program) is much more reliable, they measure your breathing, heart rate, etc. I’ve known people who it has helped manage their chronic pain.
