Is it OK in the eyes of the Church to allow someone’s feeding tube to be disconnected if the person has a living will or health care power of attorney stating it may be removed?

My parents had this document drawn up years ago. They are one another’s HC POA and if neither of them are able to be the POA then I (oldest of 3 children) have been named to be the POA.

In a case similar to Terri Schiavo, but with a HC POA, would it be wrong to remove feeding tube if this is what they want?

IANAL, but if the person has a legal living will stating that nutrition and hydration should be withheld, then there is probably very little that can be done. The person who made the living will is going to have to pay the consequences.

If they have left the decision up to you, then it would be murder.
