Some people will not pay a penny for all these programs but will reap the rewards. It is understandable why they do not care about the cost.

But what happens when NATO or the UN declare universal health care and start siezing more property to give to third world countries. Look at Obama giving away millions of our grand kids money to third world countries.

In convienience stores milk is sold cheap to attract customers to the other items that are more profitable. Yes business do things at cost sometimes You have to think about business in the dynamic sense rather than the static sense.

They all know rationing is inevitable and they want to be the ones with the power to decide who gets what. Just think of how much more money they will be able to milk out of the drug and insurance companies, in the form of campaign contributions, when they call all the shots.

They know that they can’t cover everything and when their voters finnaly come to that realization they will likely just blame the opposition pary and their supporters will be gullible enough to believe them.

May I ask the doctors here why you chose medicine and the path of a healer to make money or help those who are ill? If its the former your in the wrong profession IMHO. Is it right for any docotr to refuse to care for an ill person due to their ability to pay that is a violation of your duty under the Hippocratic Oath to do no harm.

My refusal to offer a service does not harm anyone. You could argue that to publicize service and then not offer it in an emergency situation may cause harm. But even that excuse is nullified for conditions that are not immediately life threatening. For life threatening situations there is nothing wrong with demanding a payment of debts after the fact.

Rivalry and excludability go hand-in-hand. I can only sell a ring to one person at a time. If I sell a ring to one person, I cannot sell that ring to someone else. There is a linkage between who benefits and who pays for the benefits. The person who buys the ring also benefits from wearing it.

One of the functions of prices is the transmission of information. Prices coordinate the activities between buyers and sellers. Prices that provide information also provide an incentive to act on that information. If goods are not excludable, there is a break in the linkage between costs and benefits. Prices will not provide accurate information and incentives.

An example that comes to mind is the health care industry. We all buy health insurance. Our medical insurance pays for most of our health costs. Once I pay for my medical insurance and deductible (excludable good), the insurance pays for the balance of my medical care (nonexcludable good). We no longer pay the doctor directly. Do I care what the Doctor charges as long as my insurance pays? I have no incentive to shop for the lowest price. Additionally, the doctor has no incentive to lower his fees.

Our jewelry company produces private goods. Our company manufactures rings that are characterized by rivalry and excludability. Jewelry should be produced by the private sector. Should the government figure out how to make jewelry a nonexcludable good, I would gladly sell my business to them.

Next consider that the gas industries oil industry has a high income relative to the low profit ratios. And some here have posted before with regards to insurance companies that their extremely low margins do not justify their overal profits. The simply want to look at the total income not profit as a ratio to investment. It is iteresting how inconsistent some are in their perspective.

The program will likely go bankrupt soon and even if it does not I will never get bennefits proportional to what I put into the system. Someone who pays a tenth of what I pay per year will get the same access and someone paying ten times more than me will also get the same “bennefit” and the program is simply a government forcing people to do something against their will.
 
one of the culprits in the health care mess is government interference through regulation. Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements have continually gone down with private insurance groups following suit. State governments do not allow residents access to other insurances which could help bring down the huge premiums and deductibles. Pharmaceuticals have gone up to recoup costs of R & D primarily due to government regulations. Doctors and other health organizations are caught in the middle. And now the government wants to confiscate the rest of the system.

for the same reason as if I were robbed and the police recover some of my stolen property I would claim it. Getting the return of stolen goods is not an endorsement of the original theft.
 
Medicare is suppose to be phased out. The government option is suppose to take the place of both the Medicare & Medicaid programs. However, those who don’t wish to participate will be forced to when they file their taxes because they will be fined if they can’t produce a proof of insurance. Private companies will also be forced to pay huge premiums to keep a private plan. Most small businesses won’t be able to afford it so will force their employees to go on the government plan. However, this is all up in the air right now because of the upcoming election this Tues. in Mass. If the Republican wins the special election to replace the deceased Kennedy, the Senate will not have the needed 60 votes to ram this thing through and it may get killed yet. Pray that it does, if not, the health care system as we know it may not survive.
 
Liberals, the post office, govt agency, is a shambles. lost 8 billion last 5 yrs. Medicare, medicade, govt agency, is bankrupt. Social Security , govt agency, is bankrupt. Fannie mae, freedie mac, govt backed agency, caused present mess we are in now. Every time LIBERAL POLITICIANS start a new SAVIOR policy it turns into a mess that causes more harm than good. The admin. said it would all be upfront and visable planning so we the voters would know every thing. The truth has been far different with deals for different states and groups that are immoral at the least and unlawful if you have no morals. All this behind closed doors in secret sessions and all conseratives banned from even being present. I`m sure they will work their abortion plan in one way or another. It is the sacred cow of the democratic party, and my belief and CATHOLIC TEACHING that to even vote for one of these people is a grave sin and to do so would betray your faith and church.
Charity is a virtue and blessing given to Gods people and taught by Gods church. When you are forced to give anything it is not charity, it is robbery. The constitution says our fedral govt is to protect us from foreign powers, and leave us alone. That`s it. Socialism has never worked and never will. It is a cancer on free people that destroys them and then itself. If one wants that life then go to a socialist country and live. Don`t destroy the greatest system of free people ever to be on the planet. Stop all govt programs and get back to the only thing that works, our CONSTITUTION, and a free mkt. Blessings Garland
