I’ve been struggling for over a year with various health problems and had two surgeries - one in Oct 2016 and another in January this year for two separate issues. I recently started seeing an endocrinologist for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome as the October surgery was intended for an endometriosis diagnosis but turned out to be a baseball-sized ovarian cyst and benign endometrial hyperplasia (excess buildup of endometrial tissue). The diagnosis of PCOS was supposedly confirmed and my OB/Gyn kept wanting me to go on birth control hormones to control the symptoms - always with terrible side effects and new symptoms. I told him at the last visit that I was no longer interested in taking artificial hormones because they cause more problems for me than they are worth.
My endocrinologist tested all of my reproductive/endocrine hormones and my DHEA was REALLY high. She had it tested again and it was again high so she is sending me for a CT scan on Monday to check for an adrenal nodule/tumor. She also ordered 2 saliva cortisol tests for a Cushing’s disease diagnosis which I show all the signs and symptoms of.
I will also be seeing a new psychiatrist at the end of this month because my depression and anxiety recently got out of control and my PCP feels it would be best for me to go back to a psychiatrist. I saw one in May but he was elderly in his 70s and he was falling asleep during our meeting as well as having problems writing (I suspect he had dementia from many things I witnessed). Anyway, I recently came across an article about Borderline Personality Disorder and I suspect I have it. I’ve always had problems with abandonment issues after my mom would leave for weeks at a time to go out of state for medical issues, I suffer with black and white thinking and devaluement issues (I respect someone highly and then can’t stand them), I’ve changed jobs and college majors many times (self-identity issues including religious problems), etc. I also suffer from extreme emotional reactions and impulsivity. I’ve been suspected by mental health professionals to have Adult ADD and bipolar disorder but the bipolar disorder does not fit as I don’t have manic/hypomanic symptoms, but I do have depression. My therapist noticed I have problems with obsessive thoughts and thought I might have OCD or OCPD (two different disorders). I plan to discuss all of this with my new psychiatrist when I see her for the first time on July 28th.
Please say some prayers that my doctors are able to figure out what’s going on and I start feeling much better.
