The Brady’s were married though by Reverend Alden from Little House on the Prairie. So at least it was a Christian marriage. I hear Reverend Alden became a Catholic. He was interviewed about his journey to Rome by Marcus Grodi’s great-great grandfather in a lecture series called The Stagecoach Home! 😉

OP, if it helps, 2 of the shows I recommended are rated TV PG: The Good Place and American Housewife. The others I mentioned are rated TV 14.

It’s a challenge, I know. Good luck!

I Stick to quiz shows and cooking competitions. And watching once upon a time at the moment. Seems OK so far

Some old looney tunes, pink panther, or Hanna-Barbera are some of my favorites for kids.

American Pickers is usually pretty clean, although one time they came across a couple bits of Victorian erotica in somebody’s collection 😱

My kids (6 and 8) and I watch Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune almost every night.

My 8 year old also loves cooking shows like Chopped and Iron Chef. We also watch HGTV shows like House Hunters from time to time.

The Masked Singer - I don’t really like it but it seems harmless, and I hear kids like it
We love it! And it’s interesting to see the variety of people who love it–my supervisor, who doesn’t really like any TV! A “free-spirited” young wife married to a part-time musician/full time med tech. A young single mom who has somehow managed to parent two children, one with disabilities, and still finish college and get a good job in the lab! Kids! Older people!

We look forward to it all week, and often speak of the show and speculate on the identify of the masked singers.

And the music is good!

And Nick Cannon is a hoot! Good host, if you don’t mind his wild wardrobe!

So much fun!

We love Perfect Harmony–lots of good music and always a very funny and extremely touching plot. It will probably be kicked off the air because it has too much plot and too much “church.” Oh, well. There are sexual jokes in the show, but nothing in your face, at least so far. Give it a try, but make sure to watch the very first episode first–don’t try skipping that and trying to figure out what’s going on. I’ve watched the first episode 3 times–I really love it.

Since the kids are middle school, I would suggest The Orville. It’s an amazingly good sci-fi show created by Seth McFarlane, who also created Family Guy, which is disgusting but terribly funny. However, The Orville is actually a really good show that is definitely NOT disgusting. It’s a lot like the first Star Trek series, but the acting is better. The plots really draw you in, and the creativity is wonderful. Seth McFarlane is to be congratulated, and I hope you’ll give it a try. It is continued from week to week, so it might be better to watch it via streaming so you can start at the beginning and learn who’s who.

One more thing about The Orville–I like the fact that McFarlane pays tribute to the Wright Brothers in the name of his space ship. That’s cool and it has the potential to make a good impression on children and teenagers.

“The Middle” was a wonderful family program which I believe is broadcast as reruns.

Would it be OK for a youngster to watch the syndicated, English-language TV series from 1993 known as Xuxa? I know the show was aimed at kids between the ages of 2 and 11, but the titular host, a native of Brazil, had a history of dressing provocatively even on children’s shows. The library of MTM Enterprises, which produced Xuxa, is currently owned by Disney, so the series might end up on Disney+ someday. Oh, by the way, the Pat Robertson version of The Family Channel aired reruns of Xuxa in the mid-1990s.

Family Ties reruns, Rick Steves and Samantha Brown Travel shows. Little House on the Prairie. Anything Anne of Green Gables. I second Star Trek. Strangely my kids like the great British baking show.

hmmm…

Wholesome Tv for me is HGTV or DIY

love Hulu…American Pickers Pawn Stars

no clue about what channels they have…I know Netflix has kids sections

if you have Roku or something type in kids or do a search with your cable provider

No offense, but do any CAF members want the Children’s Television Act of 1990 to be repealed?
I remember when this was passed, and I remember how it all started (the so much of children’s programming was half-hour long toy cartoons, like He-Man).

But is it really necessary anymore? And how positive an impact does it really have, now?

Kids’ programming has become SJW driven in recent years, so who cares that there even is a Children’s Television Act?

I say, bring back the chase scenes and falling anvils and teenagers with rock bands who solve mysteries.

Get Disney+ with tons of family friendly content to watch. My daughter and I are watching the original DuckTales now.

‘Anne With an E’, being the exception. Not a bad show but a bit dark.and adult in places.

Do children still watch TV?

The kids in our family circle spend all their time fingering their phones and/or playing with their electronic games.
