I was praying the Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy for the victims of Indonesia tsunami and nearing the end of my prayer I heard another whispering voice praying with me together. I was shocked and luckily it was nearing the end so I quickly finished it in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

I got scared because I do not know where this whispering prayer comes from. If I continue with other prayers, I was afraid that I might hear the voice again. Was it an evil spirit trying to mock me?

I have also had occasionally the similar experiences too, though not scary and feeling that I am on the right track. I feel that prayers for those who died in the most recent Indonesian Tsunami are in most need of our prayers.

I would be wary if you were told to shut up or something perhaps more stronger words.

Before prayer ask the Lord for Spiritual Protection, such as

Prayer for a Spiritual Canopy

Dear Lord Jesus, please forgive me for all the times I have not submitted to your will in my life. Please forgive me for all my sinful actions, making agreements with the enemy, and for believing the devil’s lies. I now submit to you as my Lord, dear Jesus. Now I break every agreement that I have made with the enemy.

Lord Jesus, please send an assignment of angels to remove and bind to the abyss all demons and their devices that had access to me because I believed their lies. I now ask you to establish a hedge of protection around me, over me and under me, and seal it with your blood, Lord Jesus Christ.

I now choose to put on the full armor of God and ask that you cleanse me and seal me, body, mind, soul and spirit, with your blood, Lord Jesus Christ. Please have your angelic army bind up and remove all demons, their devices, and all their power from within this protective hedge and have them sent to the abyss.

Please have your angels destroy all demonic, occult or witchcraft assignments directed against me. Please have your angels stand guard over me and protect me from all attacks of the enemy. I thank you for establishing an impenetrable shield of protection around me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

No, nothing like that. Just another whispering voice saying the same prayer with me together. Sometimes I am slower and the voice is faster so I have to catch up to synchronize with it.

There may a simpler reason. Extreme stress can cause auditory hallucinations. After I started taking a new medication, I started hearing things that weren’t there – specifically loud music and only when I was in the shower. Even when I stopped taking the medication, I still heard the music. To this day, I still faintly hear music.

You should definitely get checked out by your doctor.

In the meantime, you should could switch up your daily devotions. That way, you won’t have bad associations. The Daily Office is a great place to start. I use a shorter version called Christian Prayer, which is available on Amazon. There is a free online shortened version of the Daily Office. This link provides information about Daily Office apps for your phone or tablet.

I leave you with these words from “Story of a Soul,” the autobiography of St. Thérèse of Lisieux. She describes a dream she had at age 3 or 4.
I remember a dream I had at that age, which left a very deep impression: I was walking alone in the garden when suddenly I saw two horrible little devils near the arbor, dancing on a barrel of lime with amazing agility, in spite of having heavy irons on their feet. They looked at me with flaming eyes, then, as if overcome by fear, threw themselves in the twinkling of an eye to the bottom of the barrel. They escaped in some mysterious way and ran off to hide in the linen room, which opens onto the garden. When I saw how cowardly they were, I put my fears aside and went over to the window to see what they were up to. There the little wretches were, running round and round the table, and not knowing how to escape my gaze. From time to time they came nearer, still very agitated, to peep through the window; then, when they saw I was still there, they began racing about again in abject misery.
Keep your eyes on Jesus, who defeated evil. Ask for His protection. Prayer for shelter in His Sacred Heart. And remember the words of St. Thérèse.

God bless you. I hope you find a solution to the disquieting condition soon.

Merry Christmas.

Can the devil, demon or evil spirit actually pray? Will they go to such extreme length for the intention of their evil purposes?

I’ve heard something similar too.

I have assumed that because I am mentally deep in royaer my actual voice seems disembodied slightly.

Personally I try not to think too much about the enemy because I don’t want to empower those thoughts or the enemy. I’d be assured that your prayers for protection from the enemy are powerful and work. You can always say “Jesus and Mary save souls.”

You might also purchase a St Benedict medal.

If you have any doubts about occurrences you really should consult your priest and keep him informed of such things.

A binding prayer is similar though shorter. This is one a priest said in a youtube video; saying this is known as ‘clearing the air’:

“In the name of Jesus, I bind any spirits not of the Holy Spirit, and send them to the foot of the cross to be judged by our Lord.”

Saying such a prayer ought to get rid of any unwanted interference in a rather limited area which you have every right to be in, an area such as your room, your house, your apartment, your car, etc.

To the OP: as long as you are not receiving any novel illuminations, sensible consolations, prophecies or the like which are contrary to church teachings, I would think that ‘clearing the air’, praying the rosary, going to confession, and staying current with Mass and communion would make an ordinary person more or less invulnerable to any sort of demonic interference, especially interference with prayers.

If you are Padre Pio, you might get beaten up for being too good, but then, of course, if you were Padre Pio you wouldn’t be asking about this sort of at CAF, and you would already know far more than anybody else on here would be able to tell you.
