I have seen info on this group. The founder Fr. Paul Marx sounds familiar.

The Population Research Institute -PRI- is an offshoot of Human Life International. They have since joined the NZ branch called Family Life International in a breakaway group which basically duplicates the work of HLI but they wanted to do things *their *way.

That’s the problem with the Prolife movement, but it also shows God’s power because there are prolife victories despite all the egos involved.

In the business world growing diversity in a certain sector means things are going great. In other words if there are new widget factories popping up every week that means the widget market is going gangbusters.

When you begin to see widget factories consolidating, that means the widget market is drying up.

A widget is a widget - but they come in many colors, shapes and sizes to suit individual fancies - let the widgets proliferate! (I’m sorry but isn’t that about the coolest pun you heard/read in a long time? nyuk, nyuk, nyuk)

Hmm - I’d never heard that PRI was an offshoot of HLI …

According to their website and the mailings I receive, PRI, whose current president is Steven Mosher, was started in 1989 by Fr Marx
pop.org/main.cfm?id=151&r1=10.00&r2=1.00&r3=0.00&r4=0.00&level=2&eid=211

… the same priest who started Human Life International
hli.org/rev_paul_marx_tribute.html

From this information it seems to me that the same saintly man started both groups, and not with the intention of rebelling against the original one, but rather to have a separate group with a slightly different focus and specialty. I don’t think this was a matter of ego.

I agree with you, Black Jaque – there’s nothing wrong with a little diversity or even healthy competition in the pro-Life arena, as long as God is praised and served and the competition does not unnecessarily undercut another group with the same goal.
