"Hearing" God Speak

Jesus even says that His followers will do His Works and GREATER! Truly, God is great.

But, when you ignore Church authority on approving apparitions/private revelation (though we are under no requirement to believe them), then you need some other authority. So, that authority becomes a collection of books. A collection of books is fixed, how are you to get it to tell you about a new development?
 
When a thought enters our minds it requires discernment to decide where it has come from and even then we may not be sure. And yet God sometimes gives us an intuitive sureness for which we cannot logically account.
 
I recall once randomly opening a Bible on a Sunday morning. The passage that first caught my eyes wound up being the passage that was read at mass.

Sign? God speaking? Maybe so.
