Saint Anthony, Disperser of Devils

Dear St. Anthony, it is still as St. Peter said: The devil prowls about, lion-like, looking for someone to devour. I confess that I don't always resist him; I sometimes toy with temptation. St. Anthony, Disperser of Devils, remind me of my duty to avoid all occasions of sin. May I always pray in temptation that I may remain loyal to my Lord Jesus. Pray for my other intentions, please. Eileina and anyone else in similar circumstances. Amen

[Father_La_Fleur]

Hello,

Sorry to hear about this affliction.

I would recommend that a prayer group pray the Rosary with her to replace the evil voices with good and holy voices. The sacred music of Mass, esp. the Sanctus, Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of Hosts is for that. Litanies and the reading of Scripture is for that. A Novena to Our Lady, to Saint Joseph, Terror of the demons, to St. Micheal or to a Saint known for giving the Devil a taste of his own poison, if for that.(St. Benedict, and the medal, esp. at this time, when one of his “boys” is at the Head of the Catholic Church as Pope!)

I also recommend that she see a good psychiatrist to assess if their could be a psychological cause, and a physical examination as well as it has been mentioned. Usually, this is part of the evaluation of the team of professionals working with the Exorcist(s). When there is a combination of organic, psychological and spiritual causes, it is most tricky-one influences another, as we are body and soul, heart and mind.

Regardless of the causes, we can identify with more clarity the cause by the fruits, the effects of the healing. If the exorcism Ritual works, it definitely gives relief. If there are no dramatic aversions to the sacred, the blessed and the Holy or other symptoms of diabolical harassment or partial possession, then the evil influence may be not as prominent or be only indirect by way of the psyche. The Exorcist would know this.

Even after a Deliverance or a psychological healing, the compulsions, the fixations, the memories of sensations, the reflexes remain and diminish in frequency and intensity. You could compare it to flashbacks or cravings of an old relationship or addiction or abuse. Abuse victims takes years to erase the face and the voice and the hands that harmed them. This is spiritual abuse, one form of it, most obvious form of it.

We are creatures of habit. Even if the thoughts do not originate from her, they have imprinted themselves on the hard drive of her memory, to the least. These censorial or psychological grooves or ruts are deleted and replaced with holy thoughts, promptings and inspirations as she lives out her Faith with renewed zeal-through spiritual exercises to build up her confidence and spiritual immune system. We are vulnerable after we recover from an illness. It takes time to get sick and to get better. She could read the lives of the Saints, or watch a movie on them, like St. Rita of Cascia, or Saint Dymphna or others or spiritual reading to build up the spiritual anti-bodies that fight any foreign "unfriendlies. "

When the Exorcist comes and prays the Ritual Prayer over her and she only feels a deep sense of peace and warmth, usually that is a sign that there is no more active evil bond with her soul. I will pray for her. God bless you.

Fr. Dominic
