I’m familiar with a family situation where one spouse is a binge drinker. Not an alcoholic, according to a drug & alcohol counselor, and I agree with that. However, definitely a binge drinker. Several times a year there are periods of a few days of drunkenness.This is unfortunately the most likely outcome if there is a marriage. Her present attitude towards her alcohol use precludes a happy marriage, you’re absolutely right. It is very sad, because of course people who marry drinkers do it because they see the positive side of the person that is ruined by the drinking.![]()
It is extremely hard on the family. Very, very hard. I can only imagine what life would be like if the person were a full blown alcoholic.
