"Heat Surge" product on TV, the Amish and electricity

You guys have probably seen that commercial for that “Heat Surge” thing that’s like a little indoor fireplace. Suppsedly it’s manufactured by the Amish, and uses only a little bit of electricity. My question is, is it really Amish? The Amish people don’t use electricity, so how could they have invented this product? I don’t plan to get one and I don’t need one (I live in tropical places), but I wonder if it’s just a gimmick. I did a websearch for it out of curiosity, but I coulodn’t find anything that talked about it being exploitive to the Amish, but then again it’s not like the Amish could see it on TV and go on the internet to complain about it because, again, they don’t use electricity.

It is a scam. The TV an print ads only state that the wooden mantles are Amish made. The heating element (in the print ads) are made in China.

id have to say a little of both. the amish probably did the wood work. but that would be it. ive known quite a few amish throughout the years, and i always get a chuckle when i see things like this. they are however, in some districts allowed to use generators. and they make wonderful carpenters.
