Heather is starting college this week. She was sexually abused and manipulated and nude pictures of her were posted online. People have recognized her and she is considering suicide tonight.

Please pray for her to turn to God’s love and away from the darkness of suicide.

***Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death
Amen.

She has my prayers.

Is she Catholic, or at least some other Christian? If she is, try to remind her that bearing the cross will not go unrewarded, and that Jesus loves her dearly, and sees her as a friend that He can suffer with so others may not.

If she is not, she desperately needs to be given hope about such things. Point out that if the universe was meaningless, her brain would be meaningless, which means her conclusions about the universe being meaningless are meaningless.

Do whatever you can for her practically, as well. You also have my prayers. May you find the strength to help, and may she find the strength to be helped.

“I plead with you! Never, ever give up on hope, never doubt, never tire, and never become discouraged. Be not afraid.”
“If He asks much of you, it is because He knows you can give much.”

I know someone that experienced something similar to this. Please reassure her of God’s love and respect for her and that moreover, an act like suicide is not only permanent but it allows her abusers to claim victory. When she gets to college she may well find people who will know and cause her grief. She’ll also find people who will understand and admire her for not letting this define her life. College is like that and will be a new start for her.

Saying prayers for Heather.

Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in the hour of conflict;
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God restrain him, we humbly pray,
And do thou, O prince of the heavenly host,
By the power of God, cast Satan down into hell,
And with him, all the evil spirits who roam the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy,
our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve:
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us,
and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Amen.

For Those Who Suffer with Emotional Trauma

Lord Jesus, Your healing extends to the depths of our mysterious being. Remember the sufferings of crime victims who are suffering from trauma. In their agony of fear or anger, sadness or despair, confusion, withdrawal, loneliness, or loss of self-esteem, may they find the grace to trust You, to let You love them through the sympathy of friends. Free them, lead them to peace, bless them with truth. Turn them away from all suicidal impulses. Amen.

For Justice

May those who posted photos of Heather’s attack repent of their hideous crimes against her. May they repent of their evil ways and remove all images that would humiliate this victim.

May the criminal who abused her be persecuted to the full extent of the law.
