What will those who will be in heaven be doing for eternity? And, if you can be specific that would be helpful. If you plan on saying worshipping God, state all the ways you will be doing that so I can get a picture of this. Will it merely be singing and praising him?
Now if communion of saints is correct, then at least you will be able to also pray with those asking for intentions, and can pray for who you wish to? That’s a nice breaking up of singing and worshipping God directly, even though that is also worshipping God because it would be his will I think. So, when everyone is finally either in heaven or hell, and there is no one seeking intentions of prayer anymore, what’s left to do for eternity? Just singing and praising and worshipping God for eternity? Will there be another planet to care for with another set of humans to worry about, or not? Or any other tasks one can remain busy with while there?
I have read the person in heaven will have full knowledge of God there. If that is the case, what is left to know for eternity? That is a long time. It has no end to it. Knowing everything for eternity and worshipping God all eternity.
I’m not clear about this somehow.

1 Cor 2:9 suggests that any answers for what heaven is like are speculation.
But, as it is written, “What noeye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man conceived,
what God has prepared for those who love him,”
1 Cor 2:9 RSV
Even with our glorified bodies in heaven we would still be finite creatures and could not possibly know everything about God, eventhough we will see Him face-to-face.

Correct. but we have Eternity to approach Him and fill our minds with Him. That in part is what Eternity is for.

You do not reach infinity (Divinity) by addition to a finite value (our heavenly mind/body), but, by repeated addition, can approach it.

The finite can never be infintie, even if it lasts forever.

Our continuous search on Earth will not exist in Heaven. :heaven:

Yes…it’s everything you can possibly imagine that is good…and fulfilling. It will be paradise. :yup::yup::yup:
Well, then I would need to stop being human. I thought this was a resurrection that happens when we die?

Our immortal souls go to Heaven and we will be reunited with our bodies at the end of time. Have you looked into the CCC (Catechism of the Catholic Church)?

(1029) "In the glory of heaven the blessed continue joyfully to fulfill God’s will in relation to other men and to all creation. Already they reign with Christ; with him “they shall reign for ever and ever.” ~CCC

The CCC is a large book, but this citation seems to be talking about those in heaven while there are still men on earth. Eventually, there will be those either in heaven or in hell.
Once that is done, how can those in heaven fulfill God’s will in relation to other men? Or to creation?

It will TAKE eternity to fill our minds with God. We will be given a new body, with a renewed mind, but you cannot add infinity to a finite value. Over eternity, we will build up our knowledge and experience of Him.

How is that not searching? If we need to know more about God even after making it into heaven… Then we are still left with a job to do, and that job is to know God’s mind and yet never know it?

I don’t know quite what to say about this. I think it’s best I do not.😊

Not quite searching. We will have found Him. But we will experience Him, breathe Him, more and more deeply.

Search implies an effort. Heaven has no effort. But He is inexhaustible. There is no point where ones knowledge of Him is complete.

That’s a much better way to look at it.

But, why did Jesus use the analogy of marriage to compare his relationship with himself and his church then? That is an effort.

The effort stops there? Can anyone be cast out of heaven after they are in it, as some angels were?

I would suggest you check out all the paragraphs about Heaven in the CCC to learn more about it all. I will provide you some references at the end of my response. To answer your question above: God created us for Heaven…that is what He wants for all of His children. Heaven is the place we must strive to get to our whole life so we can be with God. Here is a statement I had to remember when I was in eighth grade: We were made to know God, to love Him, and to serve Him in this life in order to be happy with him forever in heaven."

Try, looking in the index of the CCC to find the keyword Heaven, if you have one. If not, go here: ewtn.com/vlibrary/search2.asp

Hope this helps!

I got one yesterday. Thank you for the link though, it’s easier to find things in that way then in the book form.

No, you cannot fall from Heaven once you are there, anymore than you can fall off the earth. Your body belongs to earth; you will be given a new Body that equally belongs to Heaven, and is at home there.

A choice made before entering Eternity is fixed in Eternity. No one can escape Hell; no one will be forced from Heaven. Luke 16:26.

How the angels fell is a mystery, one we will never solve, as it is unrelated to human life. But angels are eternal spirits. Since they are not in time, any choice their minds make is permanent (eternal). We can repent because we have time to do it in.

And marriage does indeed require an effort, because it is the union of 2 flawed beings, but those flaws will be gone when we have been fitted with eternal bodies. The best marriage is only a rough approxiamtion of the union of Life that exists in Heaven.

What will the purpose of all this be? How will it help anything? What will it do?
If you are asking what the purpose is in loving God. . .

You are asking what is the meaning of life. The meaning of life is to love God. That is the purpose.

How do you love God? By contemplating Him and sharing your knowledge and love of Him with all others and finding Him in all His works and people.

This is the purpose of life. Because God is all goodness without end.
