The book of St. Faustina, testimonies of Don Bosco and many other saints, detailed the true nature of hell. But I have yet to read books and testimonies of the saints about heaven.

Are there recorded revelations of the actual state of heaven by God through his saints similar to the detailed narration of Don Bosco as to the nature of hell?

Surely you have read the New Testament. Practically the entire book of Revelation describes a vision of heaven. St. Stephen had a vision of heaven which he described in Acts 7:54-55, and St. Paul described such a vision in 2 Cor 12:1-4.

But, oddly enough, I am not aware of any other Saint beyond Biblical times who described such a vision.

It is often speculated that the angels, before the fall of some, could not have fully participated in the Beatific Vision, because if they had, they could never choose to turn away from God. It essentially robs them of their free will, because it presents a choice so overwhelmingly lopsided that any intelligent being would be irresistibly compelled to choose God. In Biblical times, extraordinary miracles occurred (which witnessed to the truth of the Gospel), but in latter times this was not the case. Perhaps visions of heaven was one of these events.
