In what particulars do you suppose the Lord meant when he said there are many mansions in heaven? Will we enjoy the presence of God at different spiritual levels? Mansions can hardly mean physical edifices…wasn’t this an allegorical statement to describe a type of existence? Perhaps this is just another “wait and see” what eye cannot perceive nor ear hear!

We will be rewarded for the works we do that are made possible by cooperating with God’s grace. There will be different degrees of glory in heaven and thus many mansions.
Jesus tell us “lay up treasures for yourselves in heaven.” Matt 6:20
Paul tells us “There are celestial bodies and there are terrestrial bodies but the glory of the celestial is one and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory for the sun, and another glory of the moon and another glory of the stars, for star differs from star in glory. So it is with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable what is raised is imperishable.” 1 Cor. 15:40-42

It’s possible that with the new heavens and the new earth that there will be physical structures as John decsribes in Revelation.

Thus, our place in the heavenly kingdom will be rewarded according to our works. How happy to be in the deserts of heaven! It would seem odd to have physical places when we are ressurrected in the spirit form…Our Lord put on human flesh to roam with us, but recall his appearence through the locked door when visiting the disciples after the ressurrection. There will no longer be need for privacy nor secluded rooms as our spirit will be in a totally different dimension. Adam and Eve did not seem to necessitate structures…the environment of sanctifying grace would eliminate much as we know it, being in our fallen state. But, this is not a subject we can really speak knowingly about. It’s just the natural fascination. Thanks for your response…it was good.
