Will all of us receive equal standing in heaven or will there be positions of higher status depending on the deeds you do here on earth:confused:

While Scripture is not clear on this issue, there does seem to be some sense that human beings will receive varying amounts of Heavenly Glory.

S. Paul, in describing the nature of our pneumatikon soma, remarked that “star differs from star in glory…so is the resurrection of the dead.” (1 Co 15).

i think Matthew 20:1-16 (the workers in the Vineyard) is a good indication that everyone in heaven will receive the same reward.

I believe life in heaven is not concerned with equality but with love…

19* Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:19

We are told there are choirs of angels in ascending rank.

I suppose that must be true of the saints as well.

But who really cares, as long as we get there? 👍

As far as I am aware ‘Degrees of Glory’ is accepted Catholic Doctrine. For example your degree would logically be placed lower than that of Our Blessed Lady.

Heaven is being in union with God. Being in a “higher order” means being more united to God. Our union with God is proportional to how much we love Him. The more you love Him, the more you are capable of uniting yourself with Him (that is, of accepting His drawing you into Himself). So yes, there will be different degrees in Heaven. However, don’t worry about it, as there will be no envy too; everyone will recognize that they are there by infinite mercy of God and so will be grateful for it and nothing else; you will rather rejoice that, say, your sister has achieved an even deeper union than yourself. Everything will be just and there will be no cause for envying or complaint, so the best we can do now is not worry about it and do our best here.

I have seen someplace that Heaven is being filled with love. Depending on the life one has led one can contain varying amounts of love. All will be filled, but some will contain much more than others. Our task now is to use every opportunity to increase our capacity.

According to a very wise and holy priest I had the privilege to know, we are all full of joy in heaven and some of us are thimbles and some of us are barrels, but we never know the difference. The saints are the barrels and we are the thimbles (or something in between). Our heavenly glory will depend on our efforts on earth and we will feel full of joy whatever the size of the vessel we are. I’ll settle for thimble status (please Lord).
