I was born Ashkenazic Jewish and converted to Catholicism almost a year ago now. I have a natural affinity to Jewish worship and today I decided to look up Catholic prayers in Hebrew. I had no idea, though very small, that there is a group that considers themselves Hebrew Catholics. I don’t really have anything more to say. Does anyone know any groups or material that I could read more about? Would it be wrong to participate in certain Jewish traditions along with my Catholic faith? Like laying tefillin or sitting shiva?

The staff apologists somewhat cover these issues in their Q & A’s. I am not an expert, so I am not authority on this issue, but based off what I read if you are off Jewish decent it would not be wrong for you to participate in Jewish acts of prayer as long as they do not act against your faith. One thing to consider if your act of praying Jewish devotions may offend your Jewish friends of family as those prayers are reserved for practicing Jews? Something to think about and research most definitely.
