I haven’t logged in to here in a couple of weeks but I have been reading the posts most days.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone on here that was so nice to me when I was feeling very messed up, confused and guilty. Incase you missed my update I did go and make that BIG confession, with my own parish priest and he couldn’t have been nicer. Since then things have been amazing! I feel like a ‘proper Catholic’ and although I will never forget what I did I know God has forgiven me. Things feel so right now and I now want to go to mass/just be at church as often as I can. I really feel like I belong.

I am so glad I listened to the advice I was given from the truly lovely people on here. I hope that one day I can help one of you too. Thank you! 👍

Deo gratias! Much thanksgiving to the Lord! 🙂

I remember my first Confession… I felt lighter than air. . .

A beautiful experience! To give thanks for forever! 🙂

Remember to do your best to keep your soul clean from henceforth and avoid near occasions of sin! It will take some learning to do, but try to learn ahead of time rather than by tripping up as much as you can! 🙂

Amen!

Ave Maria!

Thank you, I am certainly trying my hardest not to be tempted by sin again.

It wasn’t my first Confession but it was well overdue, and a very bad one too, which is why I was so worried about making it and had put it off for such a long time until I was totally overwhelmed with guilt, fear and a deep longing to be forgiven by God.

Hi Marley333 - it’s good to hear from you. Glad things are going better.

:angel1: :hug1:

I am a firm believer in the merits of weekly or near weekly confession, it gets “easier” with time and I find it is great for my spiritual well-being and resolve.

Confession heals, confession justifies, confession grants pardon of sin. All hope consists in confession. In confession there is a chance for mercy. Believe it firmly. Do not doubt, do not hesitate, never despair of the mercy of God. Hope and have confidence in confession. --St. Isidore of Seville

I agree, if you aim at least for weekly, even if you miss it, you have it in two weeks, which is good. 🙂 But three weeks can cause too much clutter to adhere to the soul simply by living in this world rather than in religious life.

I blocked things out for years and didn’t often feel guilty about it. Why was I suddenly overwhelmed with guilt and a strong desire to confess all? Why since then have I never felt so close to God, why have I wanted to pray more frequently, go to church as often as I can, feel guilty when I do something wrong straight away… Nothing changed in my life, no-one had said anything to me to trigger it. Why the sudden change of heart? I love the way my life is since Confessing all, I feel so close to God.

I am so glad I found this forum too as it is so kind and supportive and an endless source of information.🙂

Prior to making my BIG Confession I am ashamed to say I went to Confession once every couple of months and even then I often struggled to think of my sins. Since I was filled with guilt, shame and disgust with myself I was totally overwhelmed and cried in mass. After Confessing I have felt a strong pull to the church and now go to mass as often as I can (every one to two days depending on work). I can now easily think of sins I have commited, and feel guilty when i have done something wrong. I am now aiming for weekly/fortnightly Confession.

It warms my heart to hear your story, because I know part of it myself. 🙂 I think: This is what they mean by the Communion of Saints.

Thank you Shin. I am going to take your advice about aiming for weekly Confessions.
