**For the first time in years I got a referral to my blog from here. From a comment in a very old tampon thread of all things! LOL

I wonder if there is anyone left from the olden days? What’s everyone been up to?

I’m mostly just keeping on keeping on. Starting to look like I’m aging out of the always babies underfoot phase now that my youngest is 4.5 and I’m graduating my third child from home schooling in a few months. I took up knitting a couple years ago. And some of the kids and I have taken up landscaping and gardening around the house. I’m not online as much as I used to be back in the day.

So many people have left (for Facebook I think ;)) but there’s still a small handful of us oldies. :D. Not nearly as busy here as it was back in the day, but still a fun place to hang out! I never did get into the whole Facebook thing. Guess I’m old fashioned in that sense.:o

**I remember both of you! I am on FB, but don’t keep many friends on it though bc I insist that those I friend actually be friends, iykwim. The majority are people I know IRL and or have known for years. Even so, I don’t post much there either.

I think forums generally have cycles. The same topics cycle through and people leave bc they have btdt enough and a new crop come in and rehash it all again and the cycles continues.

Same thing in parenting and education. After 21 years of parenting 10 kids, I don’t really have many questions about teaching phonics or breastfeeding anymore or how to handle kids in the pew. 😛 **

Good to hear from you. I jumped onto the forum when you were having baby #9 so I guess that is a while back.

What are your older kids doing? I have some who are entering their late teens/twenties and it is a bit… different to say the least.

**They are doing okay. College and or working. The three high school graduates graduated high school very close to 60 credits. Two of them will transfer to finish their degrees at their chosen universities this summer. So it’s going to be a hard adjustment going from everyone home to having 2-3 move out at once. The oldest has the same spectrum frustrations he has always had, but it is ever so slowly getting easier for him to find his way. Nothing dramatic. It’s just so hard for him to read and respond to social cues and that makes work harder. And he is a very naive guy so working in mechanic shops is what he is good at (he is a CNC machinist) but it’s also a rough environment socially. The second is finishing up a pilot degree, he is my very focused child and has wanted to fly since he was 12, so no surprises there. The third is becoming more fluent in German and is torn about his major, possibly environmental sciences. But he is just turning 18, and he tends to be my kid who is overwhelmed by lots of choices, so I don’t expect he will be solid on more than languages until he has been on campus a year or so. There’s a world of difference between 18 and 20.

So far, knock on wood and call upon every saint in heaven to guard me from jinx, I have not had much drama or problems from my older ones yet. I’m ridiculously proud of them.☺️**

That all sounds fantastic! Yes it will be difficult to have them out of the house. Hopefully when they are out on their own, they can live somewhat close to home? I myself am hoping for my kids to at least stay within driving distance when they have their own houses and families.

You have every reason to be proud of them!
 
I still remember a thread entitled Martha,Martha show us how, where posters asked your advice on various topics.I bought photo boxes for all my photos after you said you used them to keep your photos organised.I dont post much really.

**I remember that thread too! There was a huge server crash the same week that it was going and everyone was so upset that it was one of the many threads that bit the dust and wasn’t revived when the forums came back online.

I wish I could find it again. It’d be fun to see what, if anything, I’d change about my responses. For example, photo boxes aren’t very helpful in the digital age. I have thousands, literally thousands, of digital photos I need to sort through, edit or discard, and get into some keepsake format. Going by how many actual hard copy photos I have, you’d think we stopped after the fifth baby was born bc that’s when we went digital.😦 **
