At our last Mass our priest said that this year had been named “the Year of Forgivness”

Does anyone have a link to where this was announced?

Thanks,

The last reference I can find to that refers to the Jubilee Year of 2000, which is a year of forgiveness. Haven’t heard of any year of forgivenesss in my neck of the woods.

I get the daily Vatican communications, it has not been mentioned there, and I would thnk that would be very big news.

I have not heard of this, either. The Jubilee of 2000 was the last “Year of Forgiveness” of which I was aware.

Eureka! I think we’ve found it!

However, before we all get excited, this was merely a proposal by a Chilean Bishop at the current Synod. It may or may not happen.

However, a resurgence of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament resulted from proclaiming the current “Year of the Eucharist”. Wouldn’t it be beautiful to see long lines outside the confessional (as we very well know there should be)?

It’s only been proposed, however I think it is a great idea.

It would only be fitting that after having the Year of the Eucharist, that we focus on the need to be in a state of grace to benefit from the Eucharist. A fact that many Catholics are not aware of or ignore at their own peril.
