Help a priest find his chalice [Fr. Z]

From a priest:

I am writing to ask if you can help me through your blog. I will be as brief as possible.

Some time ago I brought an old and valuable chalice and paten to a local religious good dealer to be sent for refurbishing. The company was St. Michel Liturgical Arts, formerly located in Norward, MA. The company has gone out of business and I never received my chalice and paten back. I believe this was an oversight and not a deliberate act. Despite numerous attempts I have been unable to locate the proprietor, Mr. Dennis Egan.

I wonder if any of your readers know him and can either put me in contact with him or him with me.

It is of great importance to me to have my chalice and paten back as it is of great value to me personally and cannot be replaced.

I am hoping you would, of your kindness, post the preceeding paragraph in your blog. I know of no other way to go forward other than to hire an investigator wihich is, me being a religious priest, financially impossible. It is only through the goodness of my family that I was able to take the chalice for refurbishment.

Thank you for your consideration and the work you do in support of the Liturgy and priests. May our Mother of Perpetual Help and her Divine Son be always for you a refuge.

That must be a sad loss for the priest. I know many times a chalice and paten are gifts to the priest on his ordination and have sentimental value.

Dear St. Anthony, intercede for this poor priest so he can get his chalice back!
 
Father, I’m sorry to hear that your treasured Chalice and Paten have been misplaced. Through the intercession of Sts. Anthony and Jude… may they be restored to you.

There are many “Search Engines” on the internet (kind of like internet Phone Books), where you can maybe narrow down the search. Maybe the “right” Mr. Egan will be listed on the site.

I know of an Orthodox church which suffered the theft of its altar ware, including the Chalice and Discos, between Saturday Vespers and the Sunday Liturgy.

Even the Reserved Gifts were scattered on the altar and the pyx stolen!
