I had my house (bottom portion) destroyed by Superstorm Sandy in 2012 … after which I went for 4 years without attending Church … I was very caught up in getting my house fixed and in dealing with a myriad of details concerning lifting my house for flooding that I turned my back on my faith.

I have only been back following my faith for 6 weeks at this point … and now we have a Category 4 Hurricane coming our way … possibly.

I want to know how to deal with this if I again have a damaged home … and how to stay close to Jesus throughout.

I can’t even get into all the medical issues that I have wrong with me … so between those and between my house being destroyed … and now another storm coming … I even had a hard time praying last night.

I could use advice. Thank you.

Just remember that God doesn’t give us anything that we & Him can’t handle together. “Let Go & Let God”. Praying for you. God bless.

Thank you … I am doing my best to do that … it’s hard though … I have issues with anxiety.

No you don’t . you have very good strong reason to be worried and terrified.

I know what I go through in the gales here in winter… It is normal and natural… Is there no where you can go for safety and peace? Will they not be evacuating? PLease try …

Blessings and peace…

I will be evacuating … my mother-in-law lives in a safer part of New Jersey … so we will go there … but my fear is the damage that will be done to my home … I went through it in 2012 … thought that would be the end of it for me … how many times can the same home be damaged.

Going through such difficulties is why you should be turning to God and going to Church.

God grace is what will get you through anything.

BTW, Hurricane Matthew most likely won’t even be a Cat 1, or a weak Cat 1, by the time it reaches NJ, according to the weather reports this morning.

I went to Church and I prayed about it … I felt better when I was in Church … and for some reason this morning after doing a Novena, I also felt more at peace. The most important thing to me is that I don’t turn away from Jesus if I do have damage … I did that in 2012 … it was not a good thing for me … and I recently made Jesus a few promises that I want to make sure I keep.

Oh, and thank you for the update on the Hurricane, I had not heard that … most appreciated.

Pope Francis said in his latest encyclical, “Change is something desirable, yet it becomes a source of anxiety when it causes harm to the world and to the quality of life of much of humanity.” (Laudato si, 18)

I would say spend considerable amounts of time in the Adoration Chapel, in which you do good for not only yourself but also humanity. Also, in supplement to the contemplative life which is always superior to the active (“First, prayer; then, atonement; in the third place, very much ‘in the third place’, action.” - S. Josemaria Escriva, The Way, 82; Pope Gregory says, “the contemplative life is sweetness exceedingly lovable.” - (St. Thomas Aquinas, STh II-II, q.180, art. 7, c.) place your heart in the mercy for others, i.g. Catholic Charities).
