Help! Baptism questions...

My husband and I just went through RCIA and were confirmed this past Easter. Both of us are from protestant backgrounds. We have 4 children we want to have baptized into the Church, Our problem is, where do we find Godparents?? We don’t have any “close” Catholic friends at the parish just yet, as we are relatively new to the area. I feel embarrassed to ask our parish what to do. Do they find someone in the parish who would be willing, like they chose our sponsors for RCIA? It all so new to me, I don’t know the complete resposibility the Godparent has.

Dear lizferg,
I am sorry to hear that you are embarrassed to ask the parish staff this question. How about some of the people who worked with you in the RCIA process–or maybe even one of the team to be the sponsor.
If not them, please have the courage to overcome your embarrassment to ask the parish staff for suggestions. I was asked once for a recommendation for a baby-sitter (way out of my expertise.) The person I suggested though was the source of one of the best compliments I could have received, when the same couple asked her to be the sponsor of their child born two years later.
Be courageous and ask!

First there is St. Elizabeth the mother of St. John the Baptist. There is St. Elizabeth the Martyr of Russia. And also St. Elizabeth the wonderworker of Constantinople, to begin with. risk adjustment coding invoice factoring whatever they feel is appropriate! Or perhaps a nice Bible that Isabelle will of course use later. Or they could pay for Isabelle’s baptism outfit. The godparent usually provides the baptismal cross.
