Help = Blessed Sacrament chaplet?

I recently saw a set of “Blessed Sacrament Beads” aka “Blessed Sacrament Chaplet” advertised online.

Here’s what I found:
"These consist of a medal of the Blessed Sacrament and 33 beads, recalling the 33 years of Christ’s life on earth.

On the medal one makes a spiritual communion as follows: As I cannot now receive Thee, my Jesus, in Holy Communion, come, spiritually into my heart, and make it Thine own forever. On each bead say: Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, have mercy on us!"

I had never heard of this before or known anyone who said this chaplet?

Has anyone? Where did it come from?

It sounds very similar to the Jesus Prayer and the 33-knot chotkis that many Orthodox carry on their person.
 
I have. It was introduced by JPII - not sure exactly when. I got one about 10 years ago. There are indulgences attached. I believe it says on the back of the medal (it does on mine anyway).
 
I have the Blessed Sacrament chaplet for whenever I get the rare opportunity to attend Eucharistic Adoration services.

So it’s older than 1911! 🙂

There are scads of chaplets and alternate forms of rosaries around. People love getting creative with nonliturgical prayers.

There’s an old Anthony Boucher mystery novel which dealt with this tendency: The Case of the Seven of Calvary.
