Hi all
My husband just had his birthday last month and now Christmas is suddenly upon us and I have no idea what to get him. Although we are quite poor I can’t think of anything (cheap) that he needs.
Do any of you have a good idea:confused: maybe something creative but nice…
gosh I realize how bad it looks that I even ask inhere.
God Bless you

Get him useful things.

If you live in the north, a new pair of gloves or a scarf.

A shirt or some jammies.

I got my DH a new pocket knife a few years ago, and he really liked it.

Does he have a favorite team? Get him a team shirt or other things like coasters, a book about the team, or etc.

No don’t feel bad…My db had his bday in oct and now Christmas?? I got him a pair of shoes, his shoes barely last a year so by the end of a year they are “hungry” shoes…So I buy him a pair once a year for his bday…It’s better than nothing!!

I don’t know what to get him for Christmas either…even though his Christmas gift won’t be till after Christmas…but still I would like to give him something nice too… 😦

I had a friend of mine whose wife gave him a “coupon book” for either his birthday or Christmas, I can’t remember which. She wrote it out herself, using markers and construction paper. It was just a little booklet of coupons she wrote that included things like, “Will cook a meal of your choice”, “Night off from doing laundry (or insert other household chore)”, “Ten minute foot rub”, “Movie rental of your choice (and yes, you have to watch it with him!)”, etc. You get the picture - just small things like that. Doesn’t cost any money, and they’re just nice gestures.

Last year I gave my DH some gift certificates for any baked good of his choice. The only restriction was that I needed 48 hours notice and they expire after a year. Since he didn’t use them all at once, I was able to fit the cost of any special ingredients into that month’s grocery budget.

You could make him a little scrapbook of pictures of the two of you together…

A coupon book, you make it and he can “cash” in the coupons when he wants…a back rub, make his favorite dinner, clean his car…things like that…

cookie of the month club…you will make him a different cookie every month for a year…

Have a friend take some nice pictures of you and print them out and frame one…wouldn’t cost much, you can get some nice frames these days for not a lot of money…does he have a desk at work…he could take it there…or you could take pictures and make him a calender for work…

There are lots of things you can do and not spend too much money…just think about the things he likes to do and go from there…good luck!

Well mine’s only interests are video games and guitars which I can’t afford a guitar and video games are expensive not sure what I would get him then…

But for the OP I think some of our dear CAF members have given really good advice…and suggestions! Thank you for sharing them…👍

Good fairly cheap husband gifts:
  1. Leatherman or knock off, if he doesn’t have one.
  2. Refurbished video game system. Did you know that you can pick up a refurb (with warranty) xbox for under $50.00 at Gamestop
  3. Sports memorabilia regarding his favorite team
  4. A new nightgown for you 😊
  5. a good book
  6. a book of homemade voucher for things like breakfast in bed, backrub, etc.

Where is this at??? I don’t think it applies to all of them because every time I try to go there to look for sales I get nothing!!! 😦

See that would be sweet for all married couples, I am sure hubbies appreciate that!! Very sweet, I’ll try to remember that when my time comes with my future hubby thanks for sharing!!
  1. a good book
Mine only reads gaming magazines so doesn’t help much! 😦

Yeah I keep reading such a good advice and yeah it does sound pretty good…I bet any hubby would love that one!

From a male perspective: all you need is the following:

A movie (dvd), a bottle of wine, and cook him dinner (your birthday suite for later 😉 ).

Christmas is not about the presents it’s about being together.

Hm…really??? Movie…eh…wonder what new movies are coming out during that time???

And you are correct, being together is most important and sharing with GOD…thank you for the reminder…

Hey, he might be on to something… why don’t you tie a big bow around yourself and say Merry Christmas!! Then you could spend all morning opening your “gifts”😃
Hard to do that with little kids…guess I’ll have to think of something else for my hubby…

This is what I am doing - and its just a suggestion to give you an idea of one way to try to figure out something.

We have a counter bar in our kitchen. When I cook breakfast on the weekends, the kids eat at the table and dh takes his plate and coffee and disappears into our bedroom to watch tv, a movie, or play video games.

I told him I really would like for him to sit with me while I cook, clean up the kitchen, serve, and eat.

So, he is getting a counter-bar-height chair for Christmas. It may be a present, ostensibly, more for me than for him, but I think he will benefit from the family and couple time he gets forced to participate in. 🙂

So, for instance, if you enjoy snuggling on the couch and watching a movie together, maybe get a blanket and tell him the purpose of it. Or, if you both enjoy Sudoku or Crosswords, get some books and tell him they are for the two of you to do together. etc…

My DH really liked the coupons. Cookie of the month is a good idea too.👍

Yeah I wanted to save the blanket thing but he all ready bought himself one for whenever I go over to his place and we watch a movie…He thought it would be great especially during cold winter nights… 😦 Men…
