**Ok, here’s the question…
Does anybody care that Ryecroft’s side of the story isn’t the only one?I find this very funny that I come on here looking to see if I can find any family - I just found this site a few days ago and was considering posting on a few forums - but instead I find myself and my MIL spoken about by perfect strangers as evil and mentally ill. Let me tell you we are not. We are both regular people who attend Mass regularly and attend programs, classes, and as many Holy Days as possible. Oh, and to further my credibility I work for a Catholic (Franciscan) retreat center, teach first grade Sunday School, and assist in NFP classes, family life classes, bible study classes, and anything else we are asked to do. Our MIL is a regular sponsor for RCIA as well as a Secular Franciscan herself.
So if we are evil, what else can we do?!

This forum is a place where some people find safety and confidentiality and respect for boundaries. I cannot fathom why someone would come on board “looking to see if [you] can find any family.” In my mind that kind of act is akin to stalking. You may or may not be related to the original poster. If you are, you have effectively shut down an avenue for her to explore her faith, her relationships, her ability to trust people. Now where should she go? And if you are not related to her, that’s some fairly grandiose self-seeking you’ve indulged in, giving all your fabulous and considerable credentials as if to qualify yourself as 1) a respectable Catholic and 2) a person in a particularly prestigious position to judge the original poster, whom you may not even know.
What would impress me? Anonymity. Sensibility. Kindness. Empathy. And the greatest act of all: allowing her to pursue untangling painful knots of misunderstanding without hindrance.
