To preface this, I know what determines a mortal sin. It’s a certain sin I need help with. I was just doing nothing and an innapropriate thought came into my head. I entertained it for about 2-3 seconds until I realized my fault. Can I still receive the Eucharist today?

Beware of scrupulosity.

Remember the Holy Eucharist is to bind us in closer communion with Christ and to spiritually nourish and strengthen us. It is not a treat handed out to reward “good” Catholics.

I would consider what you experienced more akin to a “tussle with a demon” than any deliberate intention at sin.

We shouldn’t deceive ourselves, but neither should be condemn ourselves. Trust in the goodness and mercy of our God and Savior.

…until I realized my fault.
I, too, have questioned thoughts that I didn’t immediately realize I was thinking/entertaining at the time. Sin involves willful and conscious entertaining of them. But you realized you entertained the thought and stopped it. The key word is realizing and then stopping.

Peace.

If you didn’t realize they were bad and in your head until 2-3 after then it’s not a sin, for you did not have deliberate consent to sin. Or the knowledge that you were thinking those thoughts…
