Yes, please, RUN to the nearest NA group and get a sponser! You can’t do this alone! Call someone, your priest or the hospital. Don’t give in! I will be praying for you all day, as much as I can.

Be strong! Think of what would happen to your wife if you left her alone. We are so proud of you…you can overcome this! St. Michael, protect him!

I will add my prayers as well. Please don’t try to do this alone. You are loved.

I’ve asked the prayer group to which I belong to pray for you.

If you can, please reach out to someone who can help you through this in person.

And look to The Jesus Prayer for help!

Spyridon, do you have family nearby that you can go stay with for a while? I know your wife is sickly, but in a way, you are as well. You need to get better in order to be able to take care of her, because right now, being around her is a problem because of the accessibility of drugs. You need to remove yourself and be somewhere nurturing and safe. As others have said, you need support, a priest, a group, a person, a sponsor. Someone that you can turn to in person.

Lord have mercy on Spyridon.
Lord Jesus, who has taken on all our burdens, be with Spyridon.
At the foot of your cross Lord Jesus we lay our cares, temptations, cravings.
By your blood Lord Jesus we receive your strength when we have none.

@Spyridon I have an idea where you live based off of your previous posts. Go to a fire station. Say you need help. They will bring you to the resources you need. If you are not sure, go to your state’s NPR website they have more details.

Spyridon,

My heart goes out to you. Just prayed for you. I have addiction problems with my immediate family members. I am truly sorry that you are going through this now. I will remember you in my prayers.

I’m being consumed by constant temptation and thoughts of using
Yes, Lord have mercy!

What do you do that supports your recovery? December of 2017 is significant period of time, so you must be doing something right!
If you have access to these substances, you need to walk away from where you can get them.
Is a change of environment possible?
Not possible, my wife is sickly and has a massive collection of drugs…

So I’d steal them from her, so add thievery and deception into what I’m on the verge of falling to…
Have you talked to her about it? Can you ask her to secure the ones that are problematic for you?
I had been becoming somewhat callous in how I was looking at other drug addicts…

Maybe God is allowing this cross to crush me so I will be humbled and learn to be compassionate again.
Definitely. We all need to have the attitude of “there, but for the grace of God, go I”. Fellowship with others in recovery is essential, because non-addicts cant really understand.

Spyridon - so much good information has been offered here that I can’t add any more. I agree with reaching out to NA - in nursing school I had the privilege of attending an open meeting of that organization and I heard some amazing stories and saw a wonderful example of camraderie and support among folks who have walked in your shoes. Please reach out to them.

I wish I was closer…I’d drive you myself. The only other thing I can do is include you in my prayers.

I’m here if you need me.

@Spyridon

How’s it going this morning ( my time). Now.

Have you been on a methadone type program at all or did you go cold turkey, mate. .?

Still praying 🙏🕊️

Can you let us know how you are @Spyridon? Have you been able to contact the VA or NA?

Please pray to St Michael the Archangel. I am going to say a Rosary when I sign off shortly, and offer Mass intention tomorrow for you. And will continue both for you.

Thanks everyone for all the prayers.

I feel much better now than I did this morning…

I haven’t had a morning like this in a long time, it was bad. But I made it without using, and I am sure I’ve been strengthened in my resolve not only by your prayers but all your gracious words as well.

Have you been on a methadone type program at all or did you go cold turkey, mate. .?
I’ve been on Methadone since 2013…

I’m tapering down and my dose is getting quite low, around 10mg/day now. Which may explain the increased cravings, to a degree.

However, I mainly attribute these cravings to the time of the year more than anything else. I have had significant relapses during the month of May every year since 2009… Here’s hoping for the first sober May this decade! So far so good.
