Does anyone know of saints whose patronage is as follows, or like it (preferably the saints had some real connection to these issues)?
  1. Depression
  2. Against suicide
  3. Substance abuse
  4. Hurting teens
  5. Sexual immorality
  6. Any combination of the above…

  1. St. Dymphna against mental illness
  2. St. Germaine Cousin against child abuse
  3. St. Maria Goretti against impurity

St Aloysius Gonzaga is also a good bet for young men having difficulty with chastity.

Thanks for the link! I actually know this site really well and used it before writing this… I wasn’t one hundred percent sure I’d looked thoroughly, though.

Job was the only saint I saw that dealt with depression.

On that note, I have a small question:

Since the Book of Job is generally regarded as a wisdom tale (appropriately placed between the Historical and Wisdom books), is there full confidence to be had that Job was an actual person? If not, what justifies our praying to him? I’m not saying I don’t trust the Church (and wouldn’t be opposed to offering a petition to him therefore), but I was just wondering how these issues can be dealt with. The same goes for Saint George the Dragon-Slayer and others who have dubious records (though they might have been real people whose lives were simply laden with tall tales).

There is enough evidence for the Church to believe in the existence of Saint George (especially evidence of veneration of him not long after his death), though much of the facts have been replaced with mythical imagery. I believe he was proclaimed a martyr in the early church whose deeds were unknown.
