Hello all,

IM new to the forums but it is something that has bothered my for some time.

When I go to confession, I always seem to forget sins to tell the priest and sometimes can only remember a few then go blank.

Will I only be absolved from these sins I have told?

Or will the sins which I have forgotten be taken into account also?

Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

Tony.

You’re absolved for all your sins, if you’re sorry for them all, even if you forget to specifically mention them or get nervous and omit one or more.

If forgetting is a constant issue, try writing them down. It’s rather satisfying tearing up the list after confession. Priests shouldn’t mind a list.

Hi Tony,

Sins that we have forgotten are forgiven. We must still remember to tell them next time. If we deliberately withhold sins then that invalidates our confession and the whole thing must be done again as well as adding the sins we withheld and also confessing that we did withhold it.

I tend to write mine down and destroy the paper later. I totally go blank in confession. 🤷
