They got caught for failing to report a shooting incident, and for removing evidence at the scene. That kind of tampering is justly regarded as a serious crime when committed by law enforcement officers.
Ironically, the long sentences were from a law designed to crack down on criminals using guns in commission of a felony.
My thought is that their sentences should be commuted. But a pardon is out of line for officers who did something like that.
