Help from Catholics in Philadelphia area

Hello Church,

I have a dear friend out in Philly who is dating a young Mexican gentlemen. She’s suffering because he doesn’t like going to mass with her because he doesn’t understand whats going on. He told her he’d go if they had spanish masses. She did a web search and was only able to find one, but it’s Sunday evening when he is working. So could you good people post some information, if you have any, about parishes with spanish masses in the city. Thanks Church.

Sorry, but I just can’t get the link to work. Maybe this time it will work. Or just go onto masstimes.org and enter Language as the additional look up options, you can choose the state of Pennsylvania then the Philadelphia area. If you let me know what area, I can send you the local parishes that have Mass in spanish. There were quite a few of them.

What about a Spanish Missal for Sunday Masses?

That way he could follow along in written spanish, hear in english, and perhaps increase his ability to learn the language and participate in the mass. Good luck.
 
I’m not in Philly. I’m in Swedesboro, NJ, about 25 min south of Philly. Our parish has a Spanish Sunday Mass every week because there is a large Hispanic population here. You are more than welcome to come here. One of our deacons (we have 2) is Hispanic.

St. Agnes in West Chester (west of Philadelphia) has masses in Spanish.
 
Where exactly are they in Philly? Are they really in the city, or are they in the suburbs? If so, do you know what county? Because that could make quite a difference in reliable answers. If they’re anywhere in Lower Bucks County, St. Mark Church in Bristol has a 9:30am Mass in Spanish.
 
Thanks for all the help church. To answer a few questions, they are in Central City… so basically down town. Neither of them drive so it’s gotta be on the subway route. The Spanish missel is a good idea though. I’ll tell’er to look into it.

Maybe they could try a TLM? That way, there’s equal opportunity language challenge.

This parish is about an hour west of Philly. If you don’t have a car, there is a bus line that goes straight to Philly from 69th st station and visa versa. It is a nice town, home of West Chester University and there are some great little restaurants there.
 
NJ Transit runs busses from center city. I don’t know what the Sunday schedule is but it’s online at NJ Transit web site.

Here are a few relatively close to center city (which is what we Philadelphians call it :D) . Center city is actually quite a large area, so these churches may not be a walk from them. If they have access to a car, that helps, as there were about 20 given on the Mass times site. I would like to think our diocese is open to all communities, and there is a link to the Office of the Vicar for Hispanic Catholics on the web site of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, archdiocese-phl.org/hispanic/index.html

It’s basically over now. We can talk about nachos until the mods come and break it up. I like Pot Roast Nachos from Atrias out here near Pittsburgh. They’re life changingly good!

OK…I am partial to Exton anyway… let’s go to Reno’s!!! Actually in West Chester…at least back in the good old days when I lived there… there were some fabulous restaurants. Is THE BAR and THE RESTAURANT still open there? I remember when they opened… My french teacher and her dh owned them…then of course the Hooters used their car in their music video on MTV… oh wait… I am dating myself, there aren’t music videos on MTV anymore!!!
