It’s about order: Put God first above all else. That might mean you date someone out of kindness, not lust. That might mean you go to Church on a Tuesday morning, perhaps, and pray for yourself and others. That might mean you go on a date with someone to whom you might not be instantly attracted…and you might actually treat them with respect. That might mean that you really try to connect with people who love God. Or you might visit some Catholic married couples and learn how they met, how they dated, how they were, or learned to be, chaste and respectful first and put the Sacrament of marriage before their own desires…and how they learned that by following a Catholic sacramental life, their true desires appeared and were met.
I know. It involves giving up some magazine photo of a life and instead living a life, but ultimately, even if and when you meet life’s sorrows, you will be deeply happy. Not a synthetic happy but a true, lasting happiness. Whether you find the earthly true love or not, put God’s love first and then all of your other choices should bring you the best love.
