OP, I think you love children, but you just don’t have an affinity for them.
I grew up with adults only. I learned to read when I was three and write when I was four. As the child of Europeans in the US, I learned three languages simultaneously - English, Dutch, and French. I was always made to behave as a “little adult.”
I got along fine with the other children my age in school, but by my teens, I just wanted the company of adults. Now, as an adult of 32, I find it difficult to relate to children. I don’t particularly “like” them, but I love them all. I wish all of them could be happy, know God, have wonderful health, never suffer, never be in need, etc. I don’t like all the things children do, but I can say with total honestly that I want the best for all of them. It bothers me greatly when I see a child in need. I include all children in my prayers. I think if’s okay not to like children as long as you love them and want the best for all of them even if you can’t “feel” the love. Feelings can be deceptive at times.
