I haven’t intentionally wanted to paint an unflattering picture of him, if that’s what it turned into. It’s just that when something is this complicated. you have to pick out a few things or nobody will bother reading the post, and as people comment, you have to explain more.

I will speak to the priest about this.
 
I wanted to edit the post after i realized common misconceptions about the story and about him, that would help further commenters, but it didn’t seem to work.
 
i would like to delete the post now that the answers are given, but it doesn’t seem to allow that either. You’d think that a catholic forum of all forums would allow deletion and editing more than others, but they seem to leave no flexibility at all, so you end up with all these comments of people who don’t get even a percentage of the story, giving rash judgements.
 
You can just ask a moderator to lock the thread so that no more posts can be added
 
Go to the About page and you will find the moderator screen names. You can private message them with a link to this thread and ask that it be closed.

tobacco is a dangerous substance, that’s what i meant, but maybe it was my fault for using a term wrongly if that’s not how it’s used, i’m not native american
