Help identifying medal

So I found this pendant in a friend’s jewellery store. I believe it’s a devotional medal of sorts. On one side it seems to be a Miraculous Medal, while on the other side there is a portrait of Virgin Mary, not the twelve stars and all the other things on a normal Miraculous Medal. However the words on the face are the ones used on such a medal in german.
One would normally think it’s a fake or something like that, however my friend said that it’s 18k gold so I don;t really know what to say.
I am very sorry that I have no pictures… I’ll try to make some tomorrow.
For the record, I’m not catholic, just an amateur historian interested in the history of jewelry.

As a person who loves medals (the finding in a unique way of the Mir. medal was part of my conversion)… I will post a little comment.

There are countless medals …

And have been over the years.

There are many such as you describe. They would take say the front of the Mir. Medal and on the back have something else. Not an attempt to change the Mir. Medal…but borrowing the image and having another on the back. (it could be a recasting of one of the ones from the mid 1800’s which tended to be rather large…often also used by religious congrs of sisters etc …)

It all depends on who designs the medal. As to what or who etc is on the medal.

The best medals came from France from the late 1800 's to the mid 20th century. Done by artists.

Most of the medals that are out there today are mass produced (I would think in a different manner) and do not have the beauty of these signed medals.

Alas! If only I could be an artist and create fine medals…
